Academy Park’s Sithara repeats as Del Val singles champ

For the second straight year, Academy Park’s Latanna Sithara and Vicky Outland are 1-2 in the Del Val League.

Sithara beat Outland, 6-2, 6-2, to win her second straight Del Val League singles title, both of which have come against Outland. Both players qualified for the District One Class AAA singles tournament, which begins next Thursday at the Healthplex.

Outland defeated No. 2 seed Aya Salim of Chester (6-2, 6-1) in the semifinals to get to the final. Penn Wood’s Elly Perez took third place when Salim had to retire because of an injury.
