The Reporter Week 2 Preview Capsules

Here is a look at the six games on the local high school football schedule for Week Two.

North Penn at West Catholic
Time/Place: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Widener University.
On the Air: The game will be televised live on The Comcast Network

Records: North Penn is 0-1 overall and 0-0 in the Suburban One League National Conference. West Catholic is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the Philadelphia Catholic League.
Last Week: The Knights fell 24-12 to rival La Salle while West Catholic triumphed down the shore, winning 35-16 over Roman Catholic down in Wildwood (N.J.).
Last Year: North Penn outlasted West Catholic 19-16 in overtime in Week Two, on a steamy night at Crawford Stadium.
Players to Watch: The Knights’ Nyfease West rushed for two scores last week and wide receiver Ricky Johns was a big factor, catching four passes for 68 yards. Also, Deion Robinson continues to be explosive in the return game. West Catholic running back Calil Wortham broke a 45-yard touchdown run to polish off the victory last week.
Prediction: North Penn 28, West Catholic 16.

Souderton Area at Central Bucks West
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at War Memorial Stadium, CB West High School.
On the Air: The game will be broadcast live on WNPV 1440 AM and online at wnpv1440.com.

Records: Souderton is 0-1 overall and 0-0 in the Suburban One League National Conference. CB West is 0-1 overall and 0-0 in the SOL Continental.
Last Week: The Indians fell 20-14 in double overtime to Plymouth Whitemarsh while the Bucks lost 40-14 to Central Bucks South.
Last Year: The Bucks prevailed 34-19 over Big Red in Week Two at Souderton.
Players to Watch: Bucks quarterback Eddie Shields got the attack going after halftime last week, rushing for one score and throwing to Kevin O’Hanlon for another. Souderton’s Wing-T features Jamar White and Blake Gular in the ground attack, as well as quarterback Joey Curotto, who threw for 157 yards in Week One.
Prediction: Souderton 35, CB West 21.

Central Bucks East at Pennridge
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Helman Field, Pennridge High School.

Records: CB East is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the SOL Continental. Pennridge is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the SOL National.
Last Week: The Patriots rolled, 54-14 over Cheltenham while the Rams’ offense was also in high gear, winning 55-29 over Hatboro-Horsham.
Last Year: Pennridge was a 35-18 winner over the Patriots in Week Two on the road.
Players to Watch: Quarterback Devon Balmer had the attack running smooth last week for the Rams, who also handed the ball to a variety of backs, with tremendous success. East QB Jack Lamb displayed the big play through the air last week for the Patriots.
Prediction: Pennridge 28, CB East 21

Wissahickon at Norristown
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Upper Merion High School.
Records: Wissahickon is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the SOL American. Norristown is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the SOL Continental.
Last Week: The Trojans held on for a 7-6 win over Central while the Eagles were a 43-13 winner over Methacton.
Last Year: Norristown squeezed out a 14-13 victory over the Trojans in Week Two.
Players to Watch: Wiss quarterback Mike Marino made key plays down the stretch for the Trojans last week, while Norristown QB Diavante Lloyd threw a couple scoring tosses in the Eagles’ opening-day win and could be key once again.
Prediction: Norristown 25, Wissahickon 14

Springfield-Montco at Lansdale Catholic
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Wissahickon High School.
Records: Springfield is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the SOL American. LC is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the PCL.
Last Week: Springfield routed Lower Moreland 42-0 while LC won 21-6 over Penn Charter down in Ocean City, New Jersey.
Last Year: The Spartans won 29-7 over the Crusaders in Week Two.
Players to Watch: Ryan Quigley was a jack of all trades last week for LC, rushing for a pair of scores and also returning an interception all the way back for another. The Spartans would love another big game on the ground from Brett Righter.
Prediction: Lansdale Catholic 27, Springfield Montco 19.

Methacton at Perkiomen Valley
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Perk Valley High School.
Records: Perk Valley is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the PAC 10. Methacton is 0-1 overall and 0-0 in the PAC 10.
Last Week: The Vikings won big, 56-36, over Council Rock North, while the Warriors were on the wrong side of a 43-13 decision against Norristown.
Last Year: Perk Valley pulled out a close one, 22-19, over Methacton.
Players to Watch: Quarterback Jason Eckman will try to get the Warriors out of the blocks quicker this week in the option attack, while Perk Valley turns to left-handed quarterback Stephen Sturm, who directed a big second half last week for PV.
Prediction: Perk Valley 35, Methacton 14.
