Friends’ Central posts third straight shutout

The Friends’ Central girls’ soccer team (3-0) posted its third straight shutout with a 3-0 victory against Academy of Notre Dame Tuesday. Freshman Zoe Shoemaker opened the scoring in the eighth minute when she stripped a Notre Dame defender and walked in unassisted for her first career varsity goal. Senior midfielder Jesse Rubin added two goals in the 14th minute (assisted by Phebe Guenther) and the 51st minute (set up by relentless pressure from Miranda Mastrocola). Strong play by sophomore center backs Morgan Crowley and Ava Forman preserved another clean sheet for the Phoenix, while goalie Caroline Fakharzadeh added five saves.
