Fitzgerald, McBride can’t be caught in tie for Chester

Two Chester sprinters produced district-qualifying times in a rare 70-70 tie with Penn Wood in a Del Val League dual meet Wednesday.

Danayzha Fitzgerald won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.4. Fellow Clipper Angel McBride crossed the tape in 12.5 seconds to also qualify for the district meet.

Nakayla Carter starred on the track and in the field. She won four events: the 300 hurdles, the triple jump, the high jump, and the 100 hurdles where she tied with teammate Keeasia Smith in a time of 18.8.

Donneisha Pierce’s effort in the throwing events ultimately secured the tie for Chester. She swept the shot put, discus, and the javelin.

The Clippers fell to 0-1-1 with the tie.
