Gallagher battles to singles win to boost Haverford

Connor Gallagher defeated Rob Kaufman, 6-0, 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, at third singles to highlight Haverford High’s 6-1 triumph over Marple Newtown Tuesday in a Central League match.

Kris Knight and Patrick Storey won their singles matches in straight sets for the Fords. The Tigers’ lone victory came at fourth doubles, where Eli Caldwell and Bowen Sjolander rallied past Alex Arcidiacono and Varun Rajan, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

Radnor 7, Garnet Valley 0: Brad Burton outlasted Ronnie Vitola, 6-2, 7-5, at number three to complete the Raiders’ singles sweep, and the pairing of Noah Offenkrantz and Drew Harrington defeated Pranjal Chandra and Anish Rana, 6-3, 7-6, to close out the doubles competition.

In the Del Val League:

Penn Wood 3, Glen Mills 2: Corrie Johnson (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) and Armani Brown (6-3, 3-6, 6-0) battled to three-set wins as the Patriots swept the singles completion.

Glen Mills claimed both doubles matches, including a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 comeback by Aaron Myers and Geoffrey Opio at number one.
