Four PAC-10 teams earn NSCAA Academic Award

Four Pioneer Athletic Conference girls soccer programs earned national recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) today for excellence in the classroom.

Boyertown (3.58 grade-point average), Owen J. Roberts (3.58), Phoenixville (3.58) and Upper Perkiomen (3.51) each earned the NSCAA’s National Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2013-14 academic year, the NSCAA announced on its website.

Boyertown made its way on the list for the eighth straight year, while Owen J. Roberts is making its fourth appearance on the list. Both Phoenixville and Upper Perkiomen are being recognized for the second-straight year.

The four PAC-10 programs are among just 14 PIAA girls soccer programs honored this season. A total of 194 girls programs nationally were honored.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
