Maguire leads the way for Notre Dame

Quinn Maguire sandwiched two goals around a score by Mary Kate Neff, and Sophie Graeff added a pair of assists as Notre Dame controlled play throughout en route to a 3-1 triumph over Germantown Academy in Thursday’s Inter-Ac League field hockey action.

The Irish (4-3-1 overall, 2-1 league) built a 16-4 edge in shots and goalie Gabby Carlini (four saves) carried a shutout into the final four minutes, when GA’s Allie Carrigan found the back of the cage.

Episcopal Academy 6, Springside Chestnut Hill 1: Corinne Zanolli accounted for four points with two goals and two assists and Lexi Fischer scored twice as the Churchmen stormed out to a 4-0 first-half lead.

In the Del Val League:

Chichester 3, Interboro 2: Goals from Haley Fritz, Amanda Focht and Renee King and six saves by Sarah Morrison enabled the Eagles to hold off the Bucs, who rallied with second-half scores by Annette Helmandollar and Jasmine Golden. Jess Hinchey had a strong game in goal for Interboro, turning aside nine shots.

In the Ches-Mont league:

Avon Grove 1, Sun Valley 0: Staci Curry was stellar in net for the Vanguards (2-9-1, 0-8-1), turning aside seven shots, but the visitors slipped in a second-half goal to steal the win.

In nonleague action:

Haverford 5, Sacred Heart 0: Hanna Breslin opened the scoring five minutes into the match and then Tess Horan took over, compiling two goals and two assists, and Katie Wyman (seven saves) was perfect in net for the Fords (9-5).

Radnor 9, Abington 0: Hat tricks by Katie Quinn and Lydia Sydnor (two assists) and a two-goal, one-assist performance by Lexi Kenneally paved the way for the Raiders (6-8), who outshot the visitors 35-13.

Marple Newtown 3, Academy Park 0: Nicole Smythe, Kelly Houghton and Carolina Carlton played shutdown defense in front of goalie Megan Peterson, who did not face a shot on goal in backstopping the Tigers’ third win of the season.
