Fisher leads Strath Haven past Penncrest
Sophomore Brianna Fisher was a monster down the stretch for Strath Haven in its thrilling five-set win over Penncrest.
Fisher delivered the go-ahead kill in the final set as the Panthers (15-2) improved to 8-0 in the Central League. The set scores were 29-27, 23-25, 25-16, 20-25, 16-14.
Casey Blum added 16 kills, Maddie Caspari supplied 20 assists and Maura Gibbs chipped in with 17 digs.
In the tough-luck defeat, Diana Balta registered 20 kills and 30 digs for the Lions. Emily Hopkins (20 digs, 36 assists) and Gianna Garguile (19 assists) also performed well.
Marple Newtown 3, Upper Darby 1: Sarah Roberts (19 kills, seven blocks), Carley Hamilton (12 kills, four blocks) and Rachel Dennin (24 assists) helped the Tigers beat the Royals by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 20-25, 25-19.
Evie Shanefield recorded 11 kills and six blocks for UD. Springfield 3, Radnor 0: Emily Stevenson (20 assists), Kristen Ward (nine kills), Amber Dath (eight kills, eight assists) and Chloe Williams (10 kills, three blocks) led the way for the Cougars.
Ridley 3, Conestoga 1: Melanie Malseed posted 25 digs and 17 kills to power the Green Raiders to a four-set win (25-19, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22). Molly Murtha added 16 digs and 12 kills, Carlee Herrin dished out 25 assists and Amy Staiber contributed 17 digs for the Green Raiders.
