Maguire sparks Notre Dame in Inter-Ac opener
Quinn Maguire found some room to operate against the Springside Chestnut Hill defense, firing in three goals and setting up a pair of scores, as the Notre Dame field hockey team opened its Inter-Ac League campaign with a 7-0 road romp Friday.
Ava Leonhardt, Cami Osborne, Sophie Graeff and Sarah Bowles rounded out the scoring for the Irish (3-2-1 overall), providing plenty of cushion for goalie Gabby Carlini (two saves).
In another Inter-Ac match:
Agnes Irwin 6, Penn Charter 0: Sophia Tornetta torched the Quakers for four goals and her sister, Julianna Tornetta, contributed three assists in a dominant performance by Agnes Irwin (7-1, 2-0).
In nonleague action:
Delco Christian 3, Westtown 2: Siani McNeil scored one goal and assisted on two, including Kieran Thompson’s game-winner with just over 5 minutes remaining. Madison Moore added a goal and an assist and Jamie Madison came up with eight saves for the Knights (5-6).
Cardinal O’Hara 5, Haverford High 1: The Lions (9-2) spread the wealth on offense, getting goals from Bridget Egan, Makayla Gallen, Jess Randazzo, Sara Hayes and Sarah Quintus. Gillian Ross put the Fords on the board in the first half.
Upper Darby 3, Coatesville 1: Jessica Hagan and Kerrianne McGee staked the Royals (4-7) to a 2-0 lead, and Anna Cornell’s unassisted tally with less than 9 minutes left provided some insurance for goalie Tina Lugowski (six saves).
