Crosby connects to lift Agnes Irwin
Heather Crosby capped her hat trick by tipping home Jax Van Der Veen’s pass 1 minute, 32 seconds into overtime, completing Agnes Irwin’s 6-5 come-from-behind win over Merion Mercy in a nonleague thriller Tuesday.
Juliana Tornetta set up one score and put home a pair, including an unassisted tally to tie the match early in the second half. Van Der Veen finished with three assists while Kathrina Peyton stopped six shots to earn the victory between the pipes.
In the Central League:
Strath Haven 4, Ridley 3: Lucy Mester and Katie Sherry each had a goal and an assist in a four-goal second half, and Gillian Gunn stopped 10 shots as the Panthers showed their composure in overcoming a 2-0 halftime deficit.
Kat Cory and Maddie Stabinski rounded out the scoring for Strath Haven. The Green Raiders received goals from Emily Johnston, Taylor Dorrin and Kelly Flynn.
Radnor 6, Upper Darby 1: Lexi Kenneally recorded a hat trick and Lydia Sydnor chipped in two goals and an assist for the Raiders, who snapped a 1-1 halftime tie with a five-goal explosion.
Garnet Valley 4, Penncrest 1: Allison D’Ignazio converted a corner to put Penncrest ahead early in the first half, but the Jaguars controlled play the rest of the way. Colleen Bradley tied it off Brittany Talley’s feed and Alison Amen cashed in a penalty stroke to put Garnet Valley ahead to stay.
In the Del Val League:
Interboro 7, Academy Park 0: Annette Helmandollar put in her two cents — totaling two goals and three assists — while Bridgette Pappert and Alexis Pinkerton played strong defense in front of goalie Jess Hinchey (four saves), allowing the Bucs to roll.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Octorara 2, Sun Valley 1: Madison Corrento set up a second-half goal by Bailey Dellelis and Staci Curry made six saves for the Vanguards.
