Haverford School draws first blood in annual rivalry with EA

The first round of the annual Haverford School-Episcopal Academy rivalry went to the Fords.

A.J. Sanford finished first and Mickey Fairorth was third as the Fords edged the Churchmen in boys cross country, 27-29.

A strong finish gave Sanford the win. Lleyton Winslow (fifth), Khalil Bland (seventh) and ninth-grader Ned Culter (11th) were essential to the victory.

Meanwhile, in golf, Haverford School topped EA by one stroke to cap a 35-0 season. The Fords finished at 5-over par at Gulph Mills Golf Club. The Churchmen came in at 6-over par as a team. No other details were available.

The competition concludes Saturday with water polo (11:30 a.m.), boys soccer (12:30 p.m.) and the football contest (1:30). All the games are at The Haverford School.
