Garnet looking for another long tourney run

Garnet Valley (20-3) faces a team on a roll when it takes on District 3 champ Cumberland Valley in the quarterfinal round of the Class 4A tournament at Exeter High School (6 p.m.).

The Eagles (17-2) have won nine in a row, including a 3-2 victory over Exeter to win its first district title since 2013. They followed that up with a 3-2 decision over West Chester Rustin in the first round of the state tournament. CV’s only losses were to State College (both 3-0). The Indians have only dropped nine sets all season.

The Jaguars are in the quarterfinals for the third year in a row. They won the Class 4A state title in 2016 and reached the semifinals last season. Garnet Valley’s only losses were to Bishop Shanahan (twice) and Upper Merion.
