Williams and Gerhart come through for Haverford again

Haverford’s No. 4 doubles team Maddie Williams and Olivia Gerhart came through to give the Fords a 4-3 Central League triumph over Springfield.

Williams and Gerhart defeated Elizabeth Turner and Kimberly Connor, 6-3, 6-3, to clinch the win. Jessica Au and Amy Cunningham and Charlotte Hamburg and Julia McCrossan won at first and second doubles, respectively, for the Fords.

Olivia Vearling pulled out a three-set triumph at first singles and Mia Grace a straight set win at third singles for the Cougars.

Radnor 7, Marple Newtown 0 >> Canon Ciarrocchi and Bridget Dougherty set the tone for the straight sets sweep by not losing a game at first and second singles, respectively.

Garnet Valley 7, Upper Darby 0 >> Jadan Law, Sophia Smith and Annie DiElemte swept the singles in straight sets to pace the Jaguars.

Lower Merion 6, Ridley 1 >> Jenna Mancuso scored Ridley’s lone victory with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Marisella Rechner at second singles.

Harriton 7, Strath Haven 0 >> The Rams won all seven matches in straight sets.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 5, St. Hubert 0 >> Mary Clare Hayden pull out a 7-5, 5-7, 10-3 win at third singles. Anna Marie Degnan did not lose a game at first singles for the Lions (7-1, 4-1). 

In nonleague action:

Hill School 5, Delco Christian 0 >> Brette Foutch put up a fight at first singles for the Knights before falling, 6-3, 6-3.

Friends Select 5, Academy Park 0 >> Victoria Scott and Aniya Pyett dropped a tough 6-3, 7-5 decision at first doubles for the Knights.
