Smith, Debusschere keep Haven winning on links

As the golf world’s attention turned to a different part of Delaware County, Strath Haven’s pair of Kevin Smith and Jackson Debusschere put on a show of their own at Springhaven Country Club. Debusschere shot the low round of two-over 37 with a birdie and five pars, while Smith carded a birdie and four pars as part of his 38 as the Panthers defeated Harriton 193-201. Haven improves to 6-0 in the Central League with the win.

Elsewhere in the Central League

Ridley 225, Lower Merion 246 >> All five of the Green Raiders’ top scorers finished with rounds in the 40’s at the Springfield Country Club. Christian Gallo’s 43 led the group, with Ethan Pecko carding a 44. Ridley is now 4-2 overall, 2-2 in the league.

Sokalsky goes low as Garnet Valley takes one of two >> Jake Sokalsky posted a 35 in Garnet Valley’s tri-match with Marple Newtown (205-235) and Conestoga (205-184). It was even par for Sokalsky, although he birdied the first and seventh holes.

Gillyoung Koh of the Tigers also finished in the 30s, shooting 38 to lead the Marple contingent.

Smith, Debusschere lead Haven to sweep >> Strath Haven defeated Springfield (202-259) and Haverford High (202-226) at Rolling Green Golf Club late Tuesday behind the hot play of Kevin Smith and Jackson Debusschere, each of whom carded 37.

Andrew D’Amico was low man for the Fords with a 43, while Michael Bednar, with a 48, was the lone Cougar in the 40s.

In nonleague action:

Radnor 195, Episcopal Academy 203 >> The trio of Jack Hamilton, David Colleran and Davis Flannery made the difference for the Raiders in the narrow victory. Hamilton fired a 37, while Colleran and Flannery each signed for 39.

Robbie Copit of the Churchmen matched that score, the lowest for EA.

In the Catholic League:

Archbishop Carroll 253, Archbishop Wood 254 >> The Patriots needed every single stroke that Chris Waldmann could save, his low score of 38 at Five Ponds Golf Course leading Carroll to a narrow win. Jack Tulskie chipped in a 41 for the Patriots.

Cardinal O’Hara 240, Father Judge 302 >> Michael Larkin and Luke Pastore each posted four-over 38s at Union League at Torresdale to lead the Lions to a league win. Joseph Taggart carded a 39 and Tom Carroll added a 40 for O’Hara (9-1, 8-1).
