Pottstown’s Marvin Pearson gets surprise of his life at Ellen Show

Pottstown High School’s Marvin Pearson has defied the odds all his life.
Now his story is getting national exposure.
Pearson, blind since the age of 10, was a featured guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Monday afternoon, and received a surprise of a lifetime from the host.
The Pottstown native was given $10,000 toward his future education at either Temple University or Kutztown University and will be flown to New Orleans as a VIP Guest of the New Orleans Saints, where he’ll get to meet childhood icon and quarterback Drew Brees.
The visibly excited Pearson has caught onto the national media spotlight after he scored his first-ever varsity touchdown in the Trojans’ 48-8 loss to Pottsgrove three weeks ago. Since then, Pearson has been featured on Fox 29’s “Good Day Philadelphia” program, WFMZ-69 News and CBS3 Eyewitness News.
Pearson started going blind in second grade and fully lost his vision nearly two years later. He is also deaf, but wears a high-powered cochlear implant. He attended the Overbrook School for the Blind the past three years before he was given an opportunity to attend his home school his senior year.
He took it. Now he continues to make memories.
