The Merion Mercy Academy field hockey team defeated Radnor, 5-0, Sept. 10, getting goals from Kolbe Keating, Margo Carlin, Jamie Natale, Allie Scannapieco and Caroline Steller, with assists from Allie Scannapieco (two) and Caroline Steller.
Merion head coach Margaretha Ehret said, “We came out in the heat with great passing sequences and really made the ball do the work. They were patient in the circle and made things happen by either getting a shot off or a corner. We got to see contributions from a lot of different players which is always great.”
The Golden Bears defeated Villa Joe, 7-1, Sept. 8, getting goals from Kelsey Farkas, Brittany Bedrossian, Kolbe Keating (two), Sara Ewing, Tori Natale and Emily Hauck, with assists from Arianna Lavelle, Caroline Steller and Jamie Natale.
MMA head coach Margaretha Ehret said, “[We] did a good just possessing the ball and working great combination passing sequences. We got to see a lot of people play and contribute, which was awesome.”

Academy of Notre Dame defeated Archbishop Carroll, 7-1, Sept. 9, getting goals from Tina D’Anjollel, Mia Leonhardt (two), Quinn Maguire, Lauren Curran (two) and Mary Kate Neff. Sam Swart scored for Carroll.
Archbishop Carroll defeated Agnes Irwin, 4-3, Monday. For Carroll, Sam Swart and Meg Foster ecah scored two goals, and goalie Kimmy McGroary had five saves.
Baldwin School lost to host Westtown, 3-1. The Polar Bears kept Westtown to a 1-1 tie in the first half, with senior captain Carrie Schaefer scoring off of her own rebound shot on goal.
The Polar Bears defeated host Friends’ Central, 2-0, Sept. 10. Baldwin head coach Karen Lancaster said, “Our team showed a new layer of depth, grit and fiestiness today. The team demonstrated their increased synergy with great communication, stick to stick passes and overlaps on offense and defense. Our defense also shone – from midfield to the backs – with everyone working together to keep Friends Central at bay.” Sofia Nicoletti and Maria HarlAmova led on offense, with Nicoletti scoring both goals for the Polar Bears. Annie Calabros assisted on Baldwin’s final goal.
Baldwin lost to Friends Select, 6-1, Sept. 8. Freshman Maria Harlemova scored the Polar Bears’ goal, and teammates Sofia Nicoletti and Annie Cacbro also made some contributions.
Conestoga defeated Harriton, 10-0, Tuesday. Goals were scored by Meredith Ross (three), Emma McGillis (three), Charlotte de Vries (three) and Kendall McGee.
The Pioneers opened up Central League play with a 12-0 win over Springfield Sept. 6. Conestoga goals were scored by Kiley Allen, Meredith Ross, Charlotte de Vries, Hope Skelly and Tara Hausker.
Episcopal Academy lost to Cardinal O’Hara, 3-1, Sept. 9. Maddie Rehak scored EA’s goal, and Episcopal goalie Bridget Boyle recorded 17 saves.
EA head coach Gina Buggy said, “O’Hara is a strong team, well organized and skillful. O’Hara had a lot of opportunities and we were able to capitalize on one goal. We just need to work on taking advantage of all the opportunities we have.”
Harriton defeated Interboro, 9-0, Sept. 11. Goals were scored by Amelia Coursen, Katelin Williams, Nikki Handel (two), Meg Willcox (two), Elle Seward, Katie Rush and Grace Copeland. Assists were dished out by Amelia Coursen (two), Nikki Handel (two) and Meg Willcox.
