Owsiany beats brother for fifth Inter-Ac diving title

For the fifth (yes, fifth) time in his high school career, Episcopal Academy’s Josh Owsiany is the Inter-Ac champion.

Owsiany tallied a score of 344.80 points at Monday’s Inter-Ac Championships at Germantown Academy, just narrowly outscoring his brother, Andrew Owsiany (329.30) for the title. The elder Owsiany, a three-time All-Delco, fell shy of his best score this season of 368.55, turned in a dual meet with Haverford School three weeks ago which set the Delaware County six-dive record.

Third was Haverford School’s Alex Tyminsky (238.70), followed by EA’s Gossen Yang (205.20) and Haverford School’s Brannon Appiciafuoco (173.15).

The girls meet also featured a 1-2 Delaware County finish, with Marin Bloise of Agnes Irwin winning in comfortable fashion. The two-time All-Delco scored 274.70, the highest girls six-dive score in Delco this season and easily better than runner-up Kara Madey of EA (248.90).

Agnes Irwin’s Heather Crosby was fourth with a score of 179.05, while EA’s Rachel Barber (167.20) and Maia Golub (165.55) took sixth and seventh, respectively.
