Gov. Mifflin >> Isaiah Mayes took the 170-pound title to head Pottstown’s showing at the Gov. Mifflin Tournament.

Mayes’ sweep of the bracket featured a technical fall of Garden Spot’s Travis Fisher at the start, and a 3:11 pin of Penn Manor’s Marquis Sweigart. He won his weight class in a 6-5 decision of Dallastown’s Drake Pew.

Mayes was joined in the medal ranks by Tom Doyle, who placed eighth at 285. Doyle had a 3-3 record highlighted by falls in all of his victories.

The Pottstown senior won twice at 170, scoring a technical fall on Garden Spot’s Travis Fisher and a 6-1 decision on Moshannon Valley’s Devin Thomas in the quarterfinals. He and Tom Doyle, wrestling at 285, were the lone Trojans to survive a day of action that had three rounds of championship and consolation bouts.

Doyle bounced back from a shutout loss to pin Dover’s Cody Wagaman and Kennard-Dale’s Tanner Harkins.
