Delco PIAA Wrestling Medalists

Wrestling runs deep in the Commonwealth. One of the first championships established by the PIAA in 1938, the state has long been one of the best in the country for producing wrestlers.
Delaware County wrestlers have long been part of that history. The first medalist from Delco came at the second editions of the championships, in 1939 thanks to Upper Darby’s Joe Dougherty and his silver medal at 85 pounds. Nearly 100 Delco wrestlers have claimed medals since then, including three at the inaugural PIAA Girls Championships in 2024. That count includes an even 10 gold medalists.
