Golf was one of the early forays into statewide competition by the PIAA, with championships dating back to 1935. The early history is rich, with the individuals taking top honors including one Arnold Palmer, of Greater Latrobe High School, in 1946 and 1947. The girls championships dates to 1974, one of the earliest athletic offerings for girls in the state.

Through the decades, only one boys golfer from Delco has ever lifted the PIAA individual crown. He’s joined by four girls from the county, who won titles within a six-year span in the 2000s.
