The junior 189-pounder has posted a 25-5 record (as of Jan. 30), and has made a habit out of winning big — eight pins, nine technical falls and five wins by major decision. Griffin finished first at the CB West Tournament, finished second at the Rough Rider Tournament at Catasauqua High School and placed third at the Central League Tournament. Last winter, he posted a 25-12 record and qualified for regionals with a fourth-place finish at the District 1 South Championships. Lower Merion High School wrestling head coach Harry Keyser said, “Tamir has made great strides over the past two years, due mostly to his competitive nature and the intensity he brings to his training. He has committed himself to year-round training and is starting to see the benefits of that. Tamir is also an effective leader on our team, both by example and through the positive attitude he brings into the room every day.”

A: My biggest strength on the mat is neutral.
Q: Tell us a little about your start in competitive wrestling. What sparked your interest in this sport?
A: What sparked my interest was when I was a freshman and seeing the seniors take to that sport seriously and work hard. I wanted to be on their level.

A: I would say all of my coaches; they get me out to different camps and clubs over the summer so I can continue to get better.
Q: Tell us a little about your pre-match preparation the day of a match.
A: For my pre match I do a lot of jumping jacks and get my feet moving.
