A senior midfielder, an All-Catholic League and All-Main Line girls’ soccer selection last fall, has scored eight goals and dished out nine assists in the Patriots’ 9-2 start this season. Archbishop Carroll girls soccer head coach Tom Quintois said, “Olivia a dynamic, skillful player who competes with great intensity. Because of her efforts and play, Carroll girls’ soccer has grown into a program we are all proud of.  It’s truly an honor to have coached her.” A year-round soccer player, Stout plays for the Ukranian Nationals Girls Academy Team, which competes on the National Girls Academy circuit. Before joining the Ukies, she played for Lower Merion Impact, which was a highly-ranked team nationally and competed at USYS Nationals in 2022. Off the pitch at Archbishop Carroll, Stout is a member of the National Honor Society as well as Student Council, and is a Student Ambassador. She also plays CYO basketball for Saint Colman John Neumann Parish.

Q: You’ve provided some key offense for the Patriots so far this season. What do you think has been the key(s) to your success so far this season?

A: We have some great additions to our team this year. We are very strong in the middle of the field. This has allowed me to play more of a true attacking midfielder, playing much higher up the field and working with our forwards.

Q: What are your goals this season?

A: A Catholic League Championship is my only goal. My freshman year we were co-champions of the Catholic League. It was a great season and hoping we can repeat that this year.  I just really love Carroll soccer.  It’s been a great four years for me.

Q: You started playing soccer at age 6. Have you always been a midfielder?

A: When I was 6 years old, they put me in the central midfield and I am not sure I have ever played another position since.  It’s kind of funny.

Q: Who have been your top soccer mentors, and what was the most important thing you learned from each of them?

A: My dad played soccer at LaSalle University as a four-year starter (1993-97) and two year captain, and still coaches for the Lower Merion Soccer Club.  He has always been a good teacher for me. I also consider all of the teammates and coaches I have had  as my soccer mentors.  I have played with a lot of really good players.  I have learned from them but also know that all soccer players have different strengths and styles.  I think I know mine and always trying to take advantage of those.

Q: Tell us a little about your pre-game preparation the day of a game.

A: My game day prep is simple.  I have played so many games and in so many tournaments in my life. I like to do other things and not really think about the game much until its actual warm up time.  Then I start to focus in.  I find that most effective for me.

Q: You wear uniform jersey No. 22 for Archbishop Carroll soccer. Is there a reason you chose that number?

A: I have always worn Nos. 2, 4 or 22. I like 22 as it gives me 2 but also adds up to 4.

Q: What is your favorite academic course at Archbishop Carroll? What do you plan to major in at college?

A: I am most interested in Math, Science, STEM.  I have not decided on my college major but it will either be Pre-Med or Engineering.
