The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media 2023 Boys Lacrosse All-Area Teams
The 2023 boys lacrosse season was another strong one in The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media area and the top players were a big reason why. Those athletes are recognized as members of the All-Area teams.
La Salle, which won its seventh straight Philadelphia Catholic League championship and reached the PIAA-3A state semifinals, has three players on the first team: midfielder Paul vanBastelaar, defender Matthew Wills and faceoff specialist Stevie Davis.
Central Bucks West and Upper Merion each landed two players on the first team. West is represented by attack Austin Hahn and midfielder Matt Jacobsen. Hahn set a program record with 67 goals while Jacobsen totaled 48 goals and 17 assists while winning 75.4% of his faceoffs. Midfielder Casey Lamey and defender Truman McCormick earned first-team honors from the Vikings. Lamey played a key role on offense with 46 goals and 45 assists while McCormick was at the heart of the defense, causing 42 turnovers.
Joining Hahn at attack are Pennridge’s Frankie Fanelli and Wissahickon’s Kyle Lehman. Fanelli scored 53 goals and dished out 37 assists for the Suburban One League National Conference champion Rams while Lehman tallied 65 goals, 40 assists and 91 groundballs for the SOL American Conference champion Trojans.
Germantown Academy’s Walker Schwartz is the first team long stick midfielder. The two-time All-American scored 23 goals and added 16 assists.
Central Bucks East’s Patrick Coleman completes the first team defense while Upper Dublin’s Nathan Fechter is the first team goalie.
