Track Notebook: Dock, Central Bucks West rise at Coatesville

A big part of Dock’s success at the District 1-2A Championships was its distance group.

Olivia Moyer dropped 10 seconds off her seed time to win the 3,200 in 12 minutes, 0.35 seconds. The Pioneer 4×800 relay surged to second place, finishing in 10:13.63 to give the Pioneers a push towards second in the team scoring.

Out in the field, big performances began to add up as well.

Dock pole vaulters dominated, with Olivia Mozzone (6-6) winning the girls title and Micah Mast (12-0) and Daniel Ringenberg (8-6) teaming up for a one-two finish in the boys.

Mast followed up with a silver in the 300 hurdles (41.73) and Ainsley Moyer threw the discus 101-2 and the javelin 100-1 to grab the silver in each event in the girls.

Gold for Tannenbaum — Central Bucks East’s Jacob Tannenbaum rose to the top spot in the Class 3A boys discus.

Tannenbaum threw 158-9 for the gold, setting himself up for a big weekend at Shipp.

Council Rock North’s Matthew Henricksen was second in the event, throwing 156-1.

Deep 800 — In one of the fastest 800’s you will ever see, fifteen runners ran the state-qualifying standard in Class 3A girls (top eight qualify).

Cheltenham’s Eyota Bey (second, 2:08.57), Mount St. Joe’s Ella Woehlcke (2:09.39), Pennridge’s Ashley Landis (fourth, 2:09.90) and Hatboro-Horsham’s Emily Simko (2:12.32) all advanced out of a stacked deck.

Bucks go wild — The Central Bucks West boys 4×8 began the weekend in a big way, racing to second in 7:54.48, over four seconds faster than their previous best.

The Central Bucks West girls were also up to the challenge, slicing two seconds off their seed time for a silver medal in 3:52.02.

Savvy silvers — Several locals earned impressive second-place finishes in their respective events.

Maeve Gallagher of Pope John Paul II (121-2 in the discus); Ella Woehlcke of Mount (4:53.10 in the 1,600); Miles Daniels of Norristown (22-0.75 second in the long jump); John Byler of Jenkintown (9:59.10 in the 2A 3,200); Taylor Forbes of North Penn (38-6.5 in the triple jump); Jordan Sowell of Cheltenham (45-10.5 in the triple jump); Izabella Forker of Faith Chritian (4-10 in the high jump); Will Stover of Souderton Area (tied for second with a 13-0 in the pole vault); and Otani Ekpe of Quakertown (39.28 in the 300 hurdles).
