Delco Roundup: Chichester extends Del Val baseball winning streak to 39
Vince Wildrick starred on baseball senior day at Chichester on Tuesday, going the seven-inning distance and limiting Chester to only one hit and one unearned run in a 6-1 Eagles victory.
According to coach Dan Singley, it marked 39 straight Del Val League wins and a third consecutive season as undefeated league champions. The Eagles improved to 16-3 overall and 12-0 in the Del Val.
Wildrick struck out eight Clippers and walked only one. Offensively, Steven Kennard had two hits and an RBI, Mike Irwin added a pair of RBIs and DJ Anderson and Ian Merrin also knocked in runs.
Jah’Mai Brown had the hit for Chester.
Also in the Del Val:
Academy Park 7, Penn Wood 3 >> Jimmy Anderson went 4-for-4 with two doubles, and added three RBIs as the Knights downed their nearby rivals.
Anderson handled six putouts cleanly at shortstop.
Chris Lidstone struck out nine Patriots and allowed but one earned run in going five strong innings for the win. Jeremy Murphy added two hits and two RBIs.
For Penn Wood, Vernon Davis doubled and tripled and was on base all four plate appearances.
In the Bicentennial League:
Calvary Christian 8, Delco Christian 5 >> Beau Lyren and Ryan Carroll each had two hits and Sam Dixon ripped a home run, but the Knights fell short.
In nonleague games:
Springfield 6, Unionville 4 >> The game was tied at 3-all entering the home half of the sixth, but soon a two-run triple by Luke Jones would break it open, paving the way to a Cougars victory.
Matt Bean (double) and Jake Lennon had two hits each. Jake Daly had two hits for Unionville and the Longhorns’ Dom Scattolino had two RBIs.
Strath Haven 8, Interboro 5 >> Junior Jake McDonough had quite a day, smacking three hits that were good for four RBIs, while scoring twice in the win over the Bucs.
Alex Pak had two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored; McDonough and Pak each homered as the Panthers had 12 hits against four Interboro pitchers.
Sam Milligan and Zane Malarkey split the pitching duties in the first six innings, the Bucs scoring just twice; they put up three more in in the top of the seventh but fell short.
Shane West, Andrew Barbera and Frank Suga had two hits each for Interboro.
Bonner-Prendie 3, Haverford School 1 >> Haverford’s Jac Campbell allowed only three hits in going the distance but all of the Friars’ runs were unearned as the Fords fell to 19-7 overall.
The Friars had a leadoff swinging bunt single, then three consecutive Fords errors led to the Friars’ runs.
For Haverford School, Mark Quatrani had a pair of hits; Ryan Getz, Noah Trexler and Joey Pennewill also had hits.

Girls Lacrosse
Blair Fox and Catie Holmes scored three goals each Tuesday to lead Agnes Irwin to an 11-5 Inter-Ac League victory over Penn Charter.
Mairyn Dwyer had a goal, an assist, five draw controls and five ground balls. Ella Springer scored twice and had four ground balls..
In goal, Maggie Mullen made five saves for AIS.

Episcopal Academy 18, Germantown Academy 5 >> Quinn Whitaker scored five goals and added two draw controls and three ground balls in the victory.
