Delco High Schools: Springfield rolls to hand Tom Lemieux 200th win
Jimmy Kennedy tallied a hat trick in the first quarter as Springfield routed Penncrest, 17-1, Wednesday to hand coach Tom Lemieux his 200th career win in charge of the Cougars.
Kennedy and Patrick Flaherty tallied three goals and an assist each. Sean Donaldson and Jared Kennedy scored two goals apiece.
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 10, Archbishop Ryan 9 >> Dillon DiBattista’s fifth goal of the game came with 40 seconds left to see the Lions past Ryan.
DiBattista added an assist. Ryan Crowley scored two goals. Luke Melito dished two assists to go with a goal, and John Shelton went 7-for-10 on draws.
Softball
Ally Heston doubled, homered, drove in three runs and scored three times as Springfield scored 12 runs in the bottom of the fifth to walk off with a 13-3 win over Harriton.
Ryleigh Frye went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Julia Fegley had two hits and two RBIs and Ava Shaner hit a home run to support winning pitcher Payton Feeney.
Also in the Central League:
Penncrest 9, Radnor 3 >> Riley Signor belted two home runs and drove in four runs as the Lions claimed a victory.
Maggie Allison reached base three times, scored three runs and stole three bases. Bridget Gavin went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored to back her effort in the circle.
Audrey Rubinstein homered for Radnor.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Downingtown West 14, Sun Valley 3 >> Abby Gawne hit a home run, and Ally Sheppard and Jordyn Skarren had two hits each, but the Whippets’ blew the game open after leading by one after four innings.
Girls Golf
Makayla Stone carded a 43 at Merion West, but Agnes Irwin dropped a 226-239 decision to Notre Dame. Details for the Irish were not reported.
