Delco Roundup: Tyler Donahue’s homer the difference in Upper Darby win over Haven
Tyler Donahue’s tie-breaking home run in the top of the seventh inning propelled Upper Darby to a 2-1 Central League win over Strath Haven on Thursday.
Chris Chung pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts. Alex Pak homered in the sixth inning to break up the no-hitter. Drew Kessler went 2-for-2 with a double for the Royals.
Panthers starter Luke D’Ancona recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed three hits and one earned run in 6.2 innings.
Ridley 7, Springfield 2 >> Bryant Cauthorn set the tone at the top of Ridley’s lineup with three hits, two stolen bases and a pair of runs scored. Jacob Naumann hurled a four-hit complete game.
Ethan Marshall had an RBI double for the Cougars.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Haverford School 10, Malvern Prep 7 >> Ian White recorded 10 strikeouts in five innings to lead the Fords (14-5, 2-3) over the Friars.
Mark Quatrani blasted a three-run homer in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Connor Scanlan had a pair of hits and Pat White drove in two runs for Haverford.
Episcopal Academy 5, Germantown Academy 1 >>Tyler Beaulieu went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in support of winning pitcher Logan Correll, who allowed only two hits in a complete game performance.
In the Del Val League:
Chichester 15, Chester 0 >> Aaron Jackson gave up one hit and struck 11 in a four-inning shutout of the Clippers. Jackson went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. DJ Anderson added a hit and three ribbies for the Eagles (15-1).
Softball
Ridley’s Jolie Torrens pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and smashed a home run in a 4-1 Central League victory over Springfield.
Sydney Schaefer’s RBI double in the fourth inning gave Ridley a 2-1 lead. Torrens and Maddie Gordon added run-scoring singles in the fifth. Payton Feeney had an RBI double for the Cougars.
Garnet Valley 13, Radnor 0 >> Anna Sidlowski, Anna Sareyka and Ragan Bliss combined for the one-hit shutout. Emily Orisini crushed a three-run homer for the undefeated Jaguars. Jenna Fulmer went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Ava Sharp and Zoey Rogers each provided two base knocks.
Boys Tennis
Haverford claimed its fifth victory in six matches with a 7-0 decision over Upper Darby.
No. 2 singles player Finnegan Cron downed Mikah Paul in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. No. 1 Matthew Braunlich and No. 3 Devon Runk won in straight sets for the Fords (7-9, 5-7 Central League).
Penncrest 7, Ridley 0 >> Jatin Prabhakar, Brady Huggett and Flynn Hollinger all triumphed 6-0, 6-0 in singles matches for the Lions.
Harriton 4, Garnet Valley 3 >> Rithik Brahma stormed back to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 at third singles for the Jaguars.
