DLN roundup: Bishop Shanahan’s Jon Heisman earns Pa. record 513th lacrosse coaching win

The Bishop Shanahan High School boys’ lacrosse team defeated Oxford, 11-1, Tuesday, and Eagles head coach Jon Heisman earned his 513th coaching victory, a Pennsylvania boys’ lacrosse record. Heisman has compiled those wins at Shanahan, West Chester East and Springfield (Delco).
Leading the way for the Eagles Tuesday was Colin Gaffney (three goals, two assists), Devin Mullen (two goals, two assists), Nate Bracken (three goals, one assist) and goalie Joe Pezone (10 saves).
Conestoga 15, Upper Darby 1 >> The Pioneers got a hat trick from Mark Dolente, and two goals each from Brody Eaton, Adrien Grove, Miles Warkentine and Jackson Foster. Holt McGinn won 10 of 10 faceoffs.
Kennett 18, Sun Valley 5 >> The Blue Demons were led by Zach Hulme (four goals, four assists), Colin Jung (five goals, one assist), Bo Freebery (two goals, three assists) and Tyler Maiers (three goals).
Avon Grove 19, West Chester Henderson 5 >> For the Warriors, Sean Surowiec scored two goals, and Cole Foster, Max Abrahams and Carmen Cortese each tallied once.

Girls’ Lacrosse
Conestoga 17, Upper Darby 0 >> The Pioneers (12-1) got two goals each from Ellie Wisch, Kate Galica, Kiki Liebezeit and Keating Hopkins, and single goals from Lauren Grimes, Maddie Pulliam, Georgia Rios, Cassidy Brown, Maria Ziff, Sofia Calvitti, Phoebe Ridder, Sam Meaney and Chloe Brown.
Kennett 18, Sun Valley 5 >> The Blue Demons were led by Makayla Kelly (four goals), Bridget Wells (four goals, two assists), Megan Ward (three goals) and Quinn Simmons (three goals, three assists).
Downingtown East 11, West Chester Rustin 7 >> The Cougars were led by Lexie Conte (three goals, two assists), Karyn Michaels (one goal, two assists, three ground balls, two caused turnovers), Eileen Hewitt (one goal, one assist, three draw controls, four ground balls, two caused turnovers), Sofia Fanelli (two goals, two assists), Finley Mulhern (four ground balls, three caused turnovers) and goalie Addy Mulhern (nine saves, three ground balls). Elizabeth McGurk had a hat trick for West Chester Rustin.

Baseball
Oxford 8, Coatesville 4 >> Leading the way for the Hornets was winning pitcher Aiden Hernandez, who allowed just one run and two hits in five innings while striking out eight, and went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Jesse Palita went 2-for-4 for Oxford and teammate Thomas Matuszewski had a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. For Coatesville, Shane Monaghan went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double.
