The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media Local Roundup (April 5): Lansdale Catholic boys lacrosse stays on a roll in PCL

Boys Lacrosse
Lansdale Catholic 16,  Bonner & Prendergast 1: Patrick Flannery scored six goals and added two assists as the Crusaders won big in PCL action on Wednesday. Caleb Moiser added five goals and one assist, while Gavin Selchert and Dan Curran (17 of 17 on faceoffs) each scored two goals.

Pope John Paul II 14, Pottsgrove 2: Ian Young and Connor Gucwa each scored four goals as the Golden Panthers won big in a PAC contest on Wednesday. Also scoring two goals were Eric Zadroga and Cole Miller (3 assists), while Shane Flynn and Bradey Kleine also scored. Dillon Murphy won 17 of 19 faceoffs, while Sean Fallon had 9 saves in net.

Pennridge 17, Council Rock South 8: Matt Kriney scored four goals as the Rams picked up the SOL Natoinal win going away on Wednesday. Frank Fanelli and Drew Ferguson also scored three goals for Pennridge, while Matt Seiler and Ryan Carickhoff each added two goals. Levi Souder and Kevin Matthews each chipped in with a goal, while Ben Souder won 14 of 24 faceoffs. Calvin Mcguire made six saves in net for Pennridge.

Baseball
Pope John Paul II 4, Upper Merion 2: Brendan Kenning went 3-for-4 with four RBIs as the Golden Panthers rallied for the PAC Frontier win on Wednesday. TJ Boccella got the start and went four strong innings before Blake High shut the door with three scoreless innings of relief.

Girls Track & Field
Perkiomen Valley 76.5, Methacton 73.5: The Warriors dropped the meet on Tuesday, but it was not because of Summer Mellow’s efforts, who won the 100 (11.79), 200 (25.42) and long jump (17-11). Also winning for Methacaton were Kenslee O’Donnell (400, 1:01.69), Bipasha Mokten (3200, 12:34.6), Elena Chaya (discus, 74-9), Caroline Welsh (shot put, 30-11), Joanna Chung (triple jump, 32.5.25).

Girls Lacrosse
Phoenixville 15, Upper Merion 9: The Vikings fell behind 10-2 at the half and dropped the contest on Tuesday. Sam Walmsley scored three goals and added three assists, while Olivia Smith added four goals for Upper Merion. Anaya Onwubuariri came through with five saves.

Archbishop Carroll 7, Garnet Valley 6: Carroll was led by Machaela Henry with 3 goals, 2 assists, and 3 draw controls on Wednesday. Cate McConaghy chipped in with 2 goals, and Ava Bleckley had 1. Garnet was led by Maddie Shoemaker with 3 goals. Carroll’s Bridget Robinson got the win stopping 5 shots on goal, and Garnet Valley’s goalie Kate Sharp had 6 saves.

Boys Tennis
Quakertown 4, Pennridge 3: The Panthers eked out a thriller on Wednesday between the longtime rivals. Justin Kwityn won 6-1, 6-2 at No 3 singles and the No. 3 doubles team of Ryan Foley/Josh Miller (7-5, 6-3) took home the win for Quakertown. Pennridge was impressive at No. 1 and 2 doubles where Kyle Motts/Jordan Ea (6-3, 6-3) and Drake Warner/Sullivan Heying (6-0, 6-3) were both victorious.

Central Bucks South 5, Holy Ghost Prep 2: The Titans swept the doubles matches and picked up a nonconference win on Tuesday without dropping a set. In fact the doubles teams only lost a total of four games in four matches. Varun Rao/Mitchell Rabinovich (6-1, 6-1), Augustine Cho/Keshav Bhoovaragaran (6-0, 6-1), Colin Kenna/Andrew Lisovskiy (6-0, 6-0) and Junwon Kang/Smaran Dasari (6-1, 6-0) did the damage. Holy Ghost won at No. 1 and 2 singles with Paul Pabalen and Dom Gallo posting thw wins.

Perkiomen Valley 7, Souderton 0: PV lost just two sets and overwhelemed the Indians in nonconference action on Tuesday. Sweeping singles without dropping a set were Henry Ye (6-0, 7-6), Landon Raupp (6-4, 6-0) and Alex Hall (6-3, 6-2). The doubles did have a pair of three-setters with the No. 1 duo of Hayden Clemente/Evan Lichtenstein surviving a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 tussle with Landon Catto/Josh Antill, while at No. 4 Luke Harrington/Will Towns won over Ryan Ciuba/Ryan Jackson 6-7 (4-7, 6-4), 10-4.
