Lansdale Catholic 19, Archbishop Ryan 4: Dan Curran scored seven goals and won 19 faceoffs as the Crusaders ran away from Ryan on Wednesday. Gavin Selchert added six goals, while Caleb Moister, Patch Flannery and Sean McMahon all added two goals.
Pope John Paul II 7, Holy Ghost Prep 5: PJP improves to 3-2 on the season with the non-league victory over Holy Ghost Prep on Wednesday. Ian Young led the Panthers with a hat trick and Dillon Murphy won 13 of 15 Faceoffs. Sean Fallon had 13 saves in net. Cole Miller added two goals and one assist, while Eric Zadroga and Connor Gucwa also tallied goals.
Girls Lacrosse
Central Bucks South 9, Souderton 8: The Indians lost a heartbreaker on Wednesday after leading 6-4 at the half. Avery Farina led Souderton with two goals, while Carly Gavetti, Ang Borisow, Tatum Andrews and Rachel Schewe all tallied goals. Gabby Hirschman added five saves in net.
Abington 8, Hatboro-Horsham 5: The Ghosts went on a 5-1 run after halftime and picked up the SOL American win on Wednesday. Audrey Silverman led Abington with four goals, while Madden Murray and Avery Sullivan each scored two goals. Katie Warner, Katie Pennekamp and Abby Ellner all added assists.
Wissahickon 13, Lower Moreland 1: The Trojans erupted with eight goals in the first quarter and coasted to the SOL crossover win on Wednesday. Sophia Stehlik led the Trojans with six goals, while Nora Ryan and Maddie Radell added two goals apiece. Also scoring for Wissahickon were Thalia Tsiobikas and Chloe Lee. Abbie Wasserstrom scored for Lower Moreland.
Upper Merion 16, Pope John Paul II 10: Olivia Smith scored seven goals as the Vikings survived a PAC Frontier test on Wednesday. Ashley Evitts added five goals and one assist, while Julianna Callison scored three goals. Sam Walmsley (four assists) added a goal, while Anaya Onwubuariri had 18 saves. Jill Cobaugh scored five goals for PJP, while Ava Zepp added three goals and one assist. Elena Colliluori and Cate Mink also scored for the Golden Panthers.
Boys Tennis
Upper Dublin 6, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1: The Cardinals continue to mow down opponents with dominating doubles play. Wednesday’s match was no different as the Cards swept the doubles play without dropping a set. Evan Zislis and Hugh Devine set the tone at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1, 6-2 win, PW’s James Fassbender was impressive with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Scott Schlackman. Tim Sheaffer and Zach Hunter got two points back though as Upper Dublin rolled to the SOL Liberty win.
La Salle 5, Lansdale Catholic 0: The Explorers lost just 7 games in a dominating performance on Tuesday. Matthew Porreca set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 double-bagel victory at No. 1 singles. Andrew Gaylord and Drew Pensabene also posted straight set victories for the Explorers.
Lansdale Catholic 3, Cardinal O’Hara 2: The Crusaders won a pair of singles matches and pulled out the victory on Monday. Rob Hendel at No. 2 singles and Harry Davies at No. 3 singles both posted straight-set victories. Hendel won 6-2, 6-4 with Davies posting a 6-3, 6-2 win.
Upper Moreland 5, Neshaminy 2: The Golden Bears swept singles play and rolled to the SOL Freedom win on Wednesday. Brady Saunders set the tone for Upper Moreland with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Aaron Snyder followed suit with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing at No. 2 singles, while Daniel Stewart gutted out a 7-6 (4), 7-5 win at No. 3 singles.
Baseball
Pottsgrove 7, Upper Merion 6 (9): The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, but eventually dropped the PAC Frontier contest on Wednesday. Jimmy Good was out there for all nine innings, scattering 10 hits and just four earned runs, while striking out an impressive 17 batters. John Tomsho paced the offense with two hits, including a double. Bobby Hickey added three hits for Upper Merion.
Perk Valley 9, Faith Christian 2: Reid Miller doubled twice and provided strong relief in a nonconference loss to PV on Wednesday. Miller threw two-plus innings of relief.
Girls track
Methacton 123, Norristown 26: It was a big day for the Warriors, winning all but three races in PAC action. Molly Thomas set the pace for Methacton, winning the 1,600 and 3,200 races in 5:31.26 and 14:28.01. Summer Mellow added wins in the 100 (12:34) and long jump (16-4.75).
