DLN Roundup: Villa Maria scores in double OT to edge Mount St. Joseph’s

The Villa Maria girls lacrosse team scored in double overtime to edge Mount St. Joseph’s, 6-5, in an AACA contest on Tuesday.

Sophia Tray led the scoring with two goals and an assist.

Maggie Traynor, Alice Nash. Elle Toto and Kaelyn Wolfe had a goal apiece.

Tray had five ground balls and Allie Meyer won nine draw controls.

Girls Lacrosse
Twin Valley 11, Bishop Shanahan 6 >> Amelia Benner and Annabelle Wiedel recorded a pair of goals each for the Eagles in the nonleague defeat. Silvia Baptista and Caitlyn Hubiak added a goal each. Allie Hathaway made five saves in goal.

Kennett 19, Governor Mifflin 2 >> Makayla Kelly had five goals, including the 100th of her career, as the Blue Demons rolled to the nonleague victory. Greta Burns had three goals. Noelle Foster, Marissa Herring and CJ Herring added two goals each. Single tallies came from Bridget Well, Jaylee Kilgore, Quinn Simmons, Riley McQuisten and Mia Matthew. Kaitlyn Snokes and Elle McCracken combined for eight saves.

Conestoga 18, Marple Newtown 6 >> Keating Hopkins notched five goals to lead the Pioneers (3-1) to the Central League victory. Kate Galica, Chole Brown and Ellie Wisch had three goals each. Kiki Liebezeit, Piper Kienzle, Olivia Jones and Maddie Pulliam had single goals each.

West Chester Rustin 13, Wilson 7 >> Jordyn Krafchick recorded four goals and two assists as the Golden Knights posted the nonleague victory. Sammie McLaughlin had three goals and an assist. Elizabeth McGurk and Izzie Mintz added a pair of goals apiece, while Emily Parkinson and Kaylee Vanvladricken had a goal each. Ava Panetta made six saves in goal.

Oxford 13, West Chester East 1 >> McKenna Frank homered, doubled and drove in four runs as the Hornets rolled to the Ches-Mont victory. Ashley Flynn had two hits and three RBIs and Angela Beadle added two hits and two RBIs. CeCe Figueroa allowed one run and eight hits over seven innings to get the win. Rebecca Crump doubled in the lone run for the Vikings.

Coatesville 11, Twin Valley 1, 5 innings >> The Red Raiders broke open a close game with an eight-run fifth inning to roll to the nonleague victory. Olivia Springer and Paige Wilkins had three hits each, including a double. Maddie Carpenter homered and drove in three. Caitlyn Reynolds allowed two hits and struck out seven to earn the win.
