DLN roundup: Kennett boys lacrosse team rolls to victory
The Kennett High School boys’ lacrosse team exploded for a 16-4 win against Owen J Roberts Tuesday, led by Zack Hulme (seven goals, two assists), Bo Freebery (five goals), Jackie Good (four assists, one goal), Colin Jung (three goals) and Josh Holt (five saves).
Pope John Paul 5, West Chester Henderson 4 >> The Warriors got goals from Max Abrahams, Seamus Murphy, Ryan Prete and Sean Surowiec. Giules DiLiberto recorded nine saves.
West Chester Rustin 15, Haverford 4 >> The Golden Knights were led by Jake Jackson (three goals, three assists), Marek Seaman (four goals, two assists), Nate Pechin (three goals), Jack O’Hora (two goals, one assist), Aaron Cotter (two goals) and Billy Carney (10 saves).
Downingtown West 7, Garnet Valley 4 >> The Whippets were led by Bret Bergey (three goals), Bram Monroe (three assists, two ground balls), Carter Grear (six ground balls), Thomas Venzie (five ground balls), Dom Varano (four ground balls), Luke Benis (three caused turnovers) and Dylan Stang (20 saves).
Girls’ lacrosse
Conestoga 18, West Chester Rustin 5 >> The Pioneers (2-0) were led by Kate Galica (three goals, six draw controls) and Ellie Wisch (three goals). Piper Kienzle, Maddie Pulliam, Keating Hopkins and Eva Stagnaro each scored two goals for Conestoga. Sammy McLaughlin and Izzie Mintz each scored two goals for the Golden Knights.
Garnet Valley 7, Bishop Shanahan 5 >> The Eagles were led by Caitlyn Hubiak (two goals), Stella Dambro (one goal, one caused turnover, one ground ball), Sam DaDdezio (six draw controls) and Allie Hathaway (eight saves).
Downingtown East 15, Plymouth Whitemarsh 11 >> Eileen Hewitt (three goals, three assists, four draw controls) and Cameron Yard (three goals, three draw controls) led the scoring for the Cougars. Lexie Conte, Ally Flynn and Karyn Michaels each tallied two goals for Downingtown East.

Coatesville 8, Bishop Shanahan 7 >> Magnus Krieger had a home run, two hits and two RBIs for the victorious Red Raiders, and teammate Spencer Ferguson had three RBIs. Andrew Noone had two hits, including a double, for the Eagles.
Great Valley 8, Unionville 5 >> Tyler Iams pitched five stellar innings for the Patriots, and Mason Segarnick and Joey Newell each garnered two hits.
West Chester East 6, Downingtown East 3 >> Jack Maguire was the winning pitcher for the Vikings.
Oxford 4, Kennett 3 >> Asher Williston and Ben Palita each had two hits for the Hornets. Ben Bolhouse had three hits for the Blue Demons.
Softball
Unionville 12, Great Valley 0 >> Addison Smith threw a one hitter with seven strikeouts and hit a home run in the second inning to start Unionville’s offense. Catherine Stone and Madeline Tomasco each had a double. Elle Stephenson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Coatesville 15, Bishop Shanahan 0 >> In this four-inning contest (mercy rule), Ashlynn Sherman threw a no-hitter, striking out eight to earn the win. Sherman helped herself at the plate with three hits, including a triple and four RBIs. Caitlyn Reynolds had three hits and three RBIs while scoring three runs. Olivia Springer, Kaitlyn Ward and Paige Wilkins added two hits each.
Oxford 16, Kennett 0 >> In this four-inning contest, Ashley Flynn had two hits and three RBIs, while E Basilio and Sydney Kargulewicz collected two hits each. Cece Figueroa allowed only three hits and no runs in four innings.
Downingtown West 2, West Chester Henderson 0 >> Addison Carter threw a one-hitter for the Whippets, striking out 12 batters. Lizzie Kern had two hits for Downingtown West.

Unionville 6, West Chester East 1 >> Andrew Ou and Matthew Farrell won in straights sets at second and third singles for the Longhorns. Benjamin Gao won in straight sets at first singles for the Vikings.
Oxford 6, Sun Valley 1 >> The Hornets won four of their matches by straight sets, including Jacob Horton at first singles and Liam Hale at second singles.
