Pennridge girls, Central Bucks South boys swim to victory
EAST ROCKHILL >> Pennridge’s Senior Night provided an evening of fast swims and a promising glimpse of what lie ahead.
“We’re training for districts and hopefully states so we’ll see,” said a smiling Adi Garges.
Garges and the Pennridge girls brought it all together for a 103-82 victory over Central Bucks South while the Titan guys pushed past Pennridge 96-80 in a Suburban One League Colonial Division double dual meet.
For the Pennridge girls, the pace was set immediately with a thrilling victory in the 200 medley relay: Ally Ricciardi, Emily Myers, Anjali Verma and Lexy Hulse pounded out a winning time of 1:57.56.
Several more strong races would follow.
“We had a great meet. We really came together as a team,” Rams coach Jacob Grant said. “We had tough competition. They pushed our kids to some fast times, fast in-season times, times that we’re not used to seeing in dual meets. So that was good for some of our top girls to get pushed by some of their top girls.”
Ally Ricciardi won both the 50 free and 100 back for the Rams. Additional wins came from diver Clara Barron, Lynne Evers in the 500 free, and from the 200 free relay foursome of Lexy Hulse, Laney Sayre, Abby Arnold-Treanor and Garges.
“It was all-around great swims for our kids, a great meet for our kids, and fun competition,” Grant said.
The big picture is starting to come into view, and it’s looking pretty good for the Rams.
“We only have three dual meets left. I think they have a good block of training under their belt,” Grant said. “I think they’re swimming well in-season and I think they’re gonna swim even better come (the postseason). I think we’re gonna see some kids step up.
“I think they look good. We still have a little work to do.”
Richard Scholer won the 200 free and 100 breast for the CB South boys to help key their win. The Rams had tremendous swims in several spots, led by Timothy Hong (200 IM), Timur Akman (100 fly) and Michael Timm (500 free).
“I am really happy with how my team swam. The boys exceeded my expectations,” Pennridge coach Jenna Anselmo said. “A win would have been great of course but I saw my underclassmen really step up and I got to see my seniors shine in their last meet in their home pool. It’s always a good meet when we swim Central Bucks South. They give us a run for our money and we go toe to toe.”
