DLN roundup (Jan. 10): Unionville girls beat Kennett on Senior Night

The Unionvile High School girls basketball team defeated Kennett, 47-39, on Senior Night Tuesday. The Longhorns were led by Riley Angstadt (15 points), Shannon Megill (12 points), Elle Johnson (10 points) and Milana Amoss (7 points). Mikayla Kelly led the Blue Demons with 18 points.
Conestoga 47, Radnor 23 >> The Pioneers (9-3) were led by freshman Ryann Jennings (15 points, 11 rebounds, two steals), sophomore Janie Preston (12 points, seven rebounds), junior Bella Valencia (six points, three rebounds), junior Katrina Valencia (four rebounds, five assists) and junior Marisa Francione (five rebounds, four assists).
Villa Maria Academy 48, Merion Mercy Academy 28 >> The Hurricanes were led by Marah McHugh (15 points) and Elaina Guerzon (14 points).
West Chester Henderson 52, Avon Grove 35 >> Whitney Evans led the Warriors with 25 points, 17 of them in the first half, and teammate Bailey Schalluer tallied 13 points. For the Red Devils, Gabby Beltran scored 11 points.
Downingtown West 31, West Chester East 21 >> The Whippets got 10 points each from Kiersten Arrowsmith and Kaitlyn Meenan. The Vikings were led by Lauren Horan (eight points).

Boys’ basketball
Bishop Shanahan 68, Downingtown East 60 >> The Eagles had four players reach double figures in scoring – Roman Alexander (19 points), Charley Federico (14 points), Ben Rodner-Tims (12 points) and Chase Boyle (10 points). For the Cougars, Micah Hill scored 21 points and Connor Shanahan 20.
Malvern Prep 65, Episcopal Academy 45 >> Four Friars scored in double figures – Ryan Williams (20 points), Andrew Phillips (14 points), Ryan Pegg (13 points) and Hayden Pegg (11 points). Malvern outscored EA 19-7 in the fourth quarter.

Wrestling
Westtown School 42, Academy of the New Church 30 >> Westtown pins were scored by Ryan Tookes (120 pounds, in 43 seconds) and Sam Olojo (215 pounds, in overtime). Westtown won five matches by forfeit.
