Gridiron greats: Presenting the 2022 All-Main Line football teams
The fall of 2022 was a great high school football season on the Main Line for the Inter-Ac schools, and leading the local charge were Inter-Ac champion Haverford School (10-0), Episcopal Academy (9-1) and Malvern Prep (8-2).
In the Central League, Conestoga (6-5) enjoyed a winning season and advanced to the District 1 6A playoffs. Haverford High (5-5), Radnor (4-7), Harriton (4-6) and Lower Merion also experienced some highlights this fall.
The All-Main Line high school football teams are selected by the coaches. The Main Line Media News sports staff limits the number of spots available to first team, second team and honorable mention – but follows the priority of the coaches’ selections.
What follows are the 2022 All-Main Line high school football teams:
FIRST TEAM
A.J. Dilks, Archbishop Carroll – Senior 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive lineman, a first team All-Catholic League and All-Delco pick as a junior, had an even better season this past fall. Was a dominant lineman and holds offers from several Division I schools.
Brody Eaton, Conestoga – Senior 6-foot-5, 230-pound second-year captain was the Pioneers’ MVP, receiving first team All-Central League honors at tight end (18 catches, 270 yards, 5 TDs, dominant run blocker) and second team All-Central at defensive end (43 tackels, 6 sacks, 46 QB hurries). Has committed to play football for Army.
Drew Merschel, Conestoga – Senior nose tackle, a first team All-Central League selection, was the Pioneers’ Defensive MVP, with 53 tackles (13 for loss), three sacks and 36 QB pressures. Noted for her constant motor and ability to split double teams, he is a fine all-around athlete who will play lacrosse for Denison University.
Bryce Beltrante, Conestoga – Senior safety and captain, an All-Central League defensive back, brought leadership and a tough-as-nails attitude to the Pioneers this fall. Finished the season with 59 tackles and two interceptions, adding a kick return for a touchdown.
TJ Cadden, Episcopal Academy – The Inter-Ac football co-Most Valuable Player along with Haverford School’s Bill Brosko, the multi-talented Cadden scored a total of 15 touchdowns. Averaged 7.6 yards per carry rushing, grabbed 38 passes for an average of 17.3 yards per catch. Scored touchdowns five different ways – four rushing, six on pass receptions, three on kickoff returns, one on a punt return and one on a pass interception return.
TJ Lamb, Episcopal Academy – Senior wide receiver, a first team All-InterAc football selection, grabbed 31 passes and averaged 17 yards per catch for the Churchmen, scoring seven touchdowns.
Na’Rome Rayborn, Episcopal Academy – Junior quarterback was a first team All-InterAc selection, completing 102 passes in 147 attempts for 1,558 yards and 21 touchdowns, while throwing only five interceptions. Ran for 493 yards, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Victor Coleman, Episcopal Academy – Senior offensive lineman, a first team All-InterAc selection, was a key reason why the Churchmen averaged 6.3 yards per run attempt this fall. EA allowed only three sacks this season in 159 passing attempts, and none of them were attributed to Coleman.
Logan Rothberg, Harriton – Senior quarterback/linebacker completed 103 of 205 passes for 1,566 yards and 14 touchdowns. Ran 76 times for 450 yards and six touchdowns, a 5.9 yards per carry average. Made 43 tackles at linebacker (11 solo) and was a Mini Maxwell Award winner.
Matt Krebbs, Harriton – Senior receiver/defensive back, a repeat on first team All-Main Line, caught 50 passes for 770 yards and seven touchdowns, and ran 18 times for 116 (6.4 yards per carry). A first team All-Central League DB as a junior, he made 67 tackles this fall, 24 of them solo, and seven for loss, and intercepted three passes.
Tommy Wright, Haverford High – Senior quarterback and captain, a first team All-Central League selection, completed 120 of 192 passes for 1,528 yards and 14 touchdowns. Also carried the ball 113 times for 536 yards and seven touchdowns, and was considered the heartbeat of the team.
Ethan Mahan, Haverford High – Senior wide receiver, a first team All-Central League selection, made 64 receptions for 811 yards and 12 touchdowns. Is school’s career record holder for receptions (113) and touchdowns (22) for a wide receiver, and is the Fords’ single-season receptions leader.
Ben Fleming, Haverford High – Senior defensive back, a first team All-Central League selection, made six interceptions (third best all-time in Fords history) and covered the best wide receiver on the opposing team every game. Noted for his on-field intelligence and knack for always being around the ball.
Bill Brosko, Haverford School – Senior defensive lineman, the co-Most Valuable Player of Inter-Ac football this fall, made 72 total tackles, three sacks and two fumble recoveries. “Billy is one for the ages – he was the most disruptive player in the area and was in the backfield quicker than you could blink,” said Haverford School football head coach Brian Martin.
Matt Brosko, Haverford School – Junior running back, a first team All-InterAc selection, was a workhorse for the InterAc champion Fords’ offense, carrying the ball 258 times for 1,480 yards (5.7 yards per carry) and 14 touchdowns.
Louie Atkinson, Haverford School – Senior linebacker, a first team All-Inter-Ac selection, was a key force on defense for the undefeated InterAc champions, making 122 total tackles. Noted for his on-field intelligence and ability to defend against both running and passing attacks.
Michael Barnes-Pace, Haverford School – Junior defensive lineman, a first team All-InterAc selection, was another key force on defense for the undefeated InterAc champions, making 50 total tackles as well as five sacks. Noted for his high-energy, explosive attacking style.
Xavier Archawski, Lower Merion – Senior offensive tackle and captain, a first team All-Central League selection, had a 97.6 percent positional grade for the season (per LM coaches). Was Lower Merion’s Offensive Lineman of the Year for the second time and delivered 57 pancake blocks for the season.
Hayden Pegg, Malvern Prep – Senior outside linebacker, the Friars’ MVP, was noted for his all-around standout play on defense, making 48 tackles (11 for loss) and supplying top-notch pass defense. Was noted for playing his best in the biggest games.
Yaahdir Nash, Malvern Prep – Senior running back, a first team All-Inter-Ac selection, carried the ball 189 times for 1,066 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Also was a productive pass receiver.
Bobby Mears, Malvern Prep – Senior linebacker, a first team All-InterAc selection, made 68 tackles, and four tackles for losses. Also was a tough pass defender.
Colin McHugh, Malvern Prep – Senior defensive end, an All-InterAc selection, was a tough presence up front, making 40 tackles (five for losses) and four sacks and making one pass interception.
Amir Boyd, Radnor – Senior running back/wide receiver/defensive back was the Raptors’ Most Valuable Player, receiving first team All-Central League honors at RB and second team All-Central at DB. Gained close to 600 yards rushing, 300 yards on pass receptions, and was a dangerous kick and punt returner. Noted for his dynamic play, his versatility and his excellent pass coverage.
Anton Skvortsov, Radnor – Senior played every spot on the defensive line for the Raptors and led the team in tackles with 74, as well as three sacks, three tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries. Received All-Central second team honors, and was considered the heart and soul of the Raptors’ defense.

Archbishop Carroll – Jack Fry, senior defensive lineman; Anthony Spurio, senior linebacker.
Conestoga – Jimmy Marturano, senior guard; Charlie Newhall, junior linebacker; Tommy Costigan, junior linebacker/wide receiver.
Episcopal Academy – AJ Koukou, junior defensive lineman; Jack Gallagher, senior linebacker; Vern Holley, senior defensive lineman; Michael Cadden, junior defensive back.
Harriton – Colin Sullivan, sophomore tight end/linebacker.
Haverford High – Jake Snell, senior defensive back; Burke Julien, senior offensive lineman; Justin Marciano, senior linebacker.
Haverford School – Chace Knox, senior wide receiver; Wills Burt, senior defensive back; Yasir Denmark, senior defensive back; Matt Pante, senior offensive lineman; Sean Dugery, senior offensive lineman.
Lower Merion – Andrew Cook, junior linebacker; Sam Zheng, senior wide receiver.
Malvern Prep – Cam Pacquette, senior defensive back; Andrew Pellicciotta, sophomore free safety/athlete; Peter Jones, junior offensive lineman.
Radnor – Dom Laudicina, senior left tackle; Keaton Monaghan, senior offensive/defensive lineman; Tommy Deshan, senior wide receiver/running back.
