Presenting Daily Local News 2022 All-Area Girls Cross Country teams

FIRST TEAM
CAROLYN TARPLEY, Sr., Downingtown West –- Senior finished eighth at the PIAA 3A championship meet, placed sixth at the District 1 3A championships, and captured first place at the Ches-Mont League Championships with a clocking of 18:00.2. She is a repeat selection for first team Daily Local News All-Area cross country.
MADDIE MILLER, Jr., West Chester Rustin — Junior placed fourth at the Ches-Mont Championships, followed it up with an 18th-place finish at the District 1 3A championships, then finished 33rd at the 2022 PIAA 3A state championship meet. A first team All-Ches-Mont runner, she is a repeat selection for first team Daily Local News All-Area cross country.
TAYLOR ROCHON, Sr., Downingtown West – The senior, who was a first team all-area cross country runner last year, wrapped her high school cross country career in fine form this fall, finishing sixth at the Ches-Mont Championships. A first team All-Ches-Mont runner, she placed 35th at districts and 83rd at states.
JULIA HARRIS, Sr., Conestoga – Senior finished third at Central League Championships, then followed it up with a 15th-place finish at the District 1 3A championships and placed 43rd at the 2022 PIAA 3A state meet. Is a repeat selection as a first team Daily Local News all-area first team runner.
MADISON BROWN, Jr., Downingtown East – A first-team All-Ches-Mont runner, the junior placed third at the Ches-Mont Championships, then finished eighth at the District 1 championships and placed 87th at states.

COACH OF THE YEAR
Scott Burns, Downingtown West
Under the coaching of Scott Burns, the Whippets had a very successful season, finishing higher than any other Ches-Mont team in the PIAA 3A cross country championships (15th) and the District 1 championships (fifth). Downingtown East also finished first in the Ches-Mont League Championships.
The Whippets featured a deep squad of runners this fall, placing three runners in the top 10, and six runners in the top 20, at the Ches-Monts, and five runners in the top 90 at states.
