Main Line roundup (Dec. 19): Radnor, Lower Merion boys basketball teams dunk foes
The Radnor High School boys’ basketball team defeated Archbishop Ryan, 57-42, Dec. 17. The Rators’ Jackson Hicke led all scorers with 24 points, including nine in the fourth quarter. Charlie Thornton scored eight of his 13 points in the third quarter.
The Lower Merion boys basketball team defeated Garnet Valley, 68-58, Dec. 16. The Aces shot 17-for-20 from the free throw line to help seal the victory. Owen McCabe came off the bench to score 18 points (4-for-6 from 3-point territory, 6-for-6 from the free throw line and make four steals. Sam Brown added 16 points (5-for-7 from the field, 6-for-6 from the free throw line) for the Aces.

Boys’ basketball
Episcopal Academy lost to West Nottingham, 85-66, Dec. 17. Kevin McCarthy scored 24 points for the Churchmen, and TJ Lamb chipped in with 16 points.
Haverford School defeated Cristo Rey, 65-62, Dec. 18, erasing a 13 point deficit in the second quarter of the first game of the Post and Pivot Reindeer Games showcase. Haverford 8th grader Silas Graham was named the game’s MVP with 30 points and five rebounds for the Fords (5-4).
Two days earlier, the Fords defeated Maritime Charter, 83-56. Haverford scoring was led by Luke Rasmussen (24 points).
Girls’ basketball
Academy of Notre Dame defeated Episcopal Academy, 40-24, Dec. 17. Chloe Knox led the Irish with 12 points, Annie Greek added 10 points and Lizzie Halligan chipped in with eight points.
Three days earlier, the Irish defeated Baldwin School, 48-15. Eleven different players scored for Notre Dame, led by Katie Halligan (13 points).
Agnes Irwin defeated Springside Chestnut Hill, 50-45, Dec. 13. Gabrielle Seibert lead the team with 24 points, seven rebounds and three steals, Grace Getz added 8 points and Caroline Antik grabbed six rebounds.
Conestoga lost to Ridley, 56-26, Dec. 16. The Pioneers were led by freshman Ryann Jennings (15 points, eight rebounds, three steals, three treys), Marisa Francione (14 points, four rebounds, two steals) and Janie Preston (10 points, four rebounds).
Lower Merion picked up their first Central League win of the season, 44-39, against Upper Darby Dec. 13. Junior guard Lindsay Gillston led the Aces with 12 points going 4-for-7 from 3-point territory. Senior guard Morgan Debreaux and senior forward Ava Santilli each pitched in with six points, shooting 50 percent from the field.
Four days later, the Aces (2-4) lost to West Chester East, 51-38. Sophomore guard Amaria Brownlee led Lower Merion with seven points.
Merion Mercy Academy defeated Agnes Irwin, 42-33, Dec. 16. The Golden Bears were led by Mary Kate Gray (12 points, eight rebounds) and Julia Richardson (10 points, five rebounds).
One day earlier, the Golden Bears defeated St. Hubert’s, 37-26. Merion Mercy was led by Mary Kate Gray (11 points), Julia Richardson (nine points) and Jess Glancey (nine points).
Wrestling
Episcopal Academy had some strong finishes at the Howdy Duncan Tournament Dec. 17. Jack Signor finished fourth at 113 pounds, Fernando Loor placed sixth at 138, Will Hohn was sixth at 157, Vern Holley was fifth at 215 and Victor Coleman finished fourth at 285.
Haverford School had winning performances from Jay McDonnell, Jac Campbell and Billy Brosko at the Beast of the East tournament. Brosko finished fourth at 285 pounds, and had four pins in the tourney.
Indoor track
Radnor (girls) had some strong performance at The Bishop Laughlin Games on Saturday in New York City Dec. 17. Junior Sophia Hill took home the gold medal in the pole vault, clearing 11 feet. In the girls mile Zoe Margolies placed seventh with a personal best time of 5:26.9. Margolies teamed with Julia Salinero, Amelia Dole, and Courtney Kearns to place eighth in the 1600 meter relay.
Swimming
Episcopal Academy (boys) lost to Haverford School, 99-82, Dec. 13. First-place finishes for EA included Henry Haupt (200 IM and 100 breast) and Chase Bearley (50 free and 100 free).
Episcopal Academy (girls) defeated Agnes Irwin, 120-46, Dec. 13. The Churchwomen were led by first-place finishes by Mia Filipovski (200 free), Rebecca Block (200 IM), Ivie Enakhimion (50 free), Joy Ying (diving), Emma Lunn (100 free) and Delaney Oswald (100 back).
Haverford School defeated EA, 99-82, Dec. 13. First-place efforts for the Fords included Evan Boratto (200 free and 500 free), AJ Rosenberger (diving), Henry Newhall (100 fly) and Max Marr (100 back).
