DLN Roundup: Kennett wrestlers win team title at Pequea Valley

Kennett High school wrestling won the team championship at the Pequea Valley Winter Invitational on Saturday.

Kennett champions were Owen Coats, Zack Jaffe, Blake Boyer, Kane Lengel, Michael Pepe, Tyler Maiers, Josh Barlow, John Pardo, and Bailey Shindle. Taking third place was Ryan Maiers. Placing 4th were Taya Wuchter and Julio Jurado Romero. In fifth place was Logan James.

Downingtown East took fourth. Steven Elinski was champion at 139, and Adham Abouraya was second at 285.
Declan McDowell (127), Josh Hillestad (152) and Cade McDowell (160) all took third.

Girls Basketball
Downingtown East 58, Collegium Charter 7 >> The Cougars rolled to the nonleague victory as 11 players scored. Charlotte Aldrige led East with 10 points. Grace Hodges added nine and Ari Smuda, Jazlyn Boyd and Jillian Johnston had six points each.

West Chester East 51, Lower Merion 38 >> The Vikings jumped out to a 17-5 advantage after one and went on for the nonleague win. Sofia Keith led East with 13 points, while Annalise Kubasko added 10.

West Chester Henderson 61, Steinert 24 >> Whitney Evans had 19 points and Jackie Shea had 17 as the Warriors rolled to the nonleague victory. Francesca Alcaraz added 15 points. Shea grabbed eight rebounds and Lilly Person had six.

Boys Basketball
Lancaster Mennonite 56, Kennett 43 >> The Blue Demons (1-7) fell in the nonleague contest despite holding a 20-12 lead after the first quarter. Reagen Pelliter had 10 of his game-high 25 points in the first. Connor Schmaucher and Bo Freeberry had six points each.

Boys Indoor Track
TFCA meet >> Coatesville captured two first-place finishes at Lehigh University. Winners were Albert Morton in the high jump (6-3) and the 3200 relay team of Josh Miller, Tommy Wayne, Marcus Evans and Tommy Silvester (8:30.01). Robert Turner took second in the 400 at 51.60. Nasir Jordan was third in the long jump at 20-10.5. Finishing fifth were th 800 relay team (Marcel Harper, Amir Haskett, Damon Watson, Isaiah Brightman, 1:38.42) and the 1,600 team of of Evans, Wayne, Elijah Morris and Silvester in 3:38.38.
