DLN Roundup: Great Valley and West Chester East prevail
In Ches-Mont American boys’ basketball action Tuesday, Great Valley led wire-to-wire and downed Kennett 41-25. The Patriots opened the game by scoring 16 of the first 18 points. Jack Woodward paced all scorers with 13 for Great Valley. Reagan Pelletier scored 11 points for the Blue Demons (0-1, 0-6).
West Chester East 67, Downingtown East 50 >> The Vikings opened defense of its Ches-Mont crown with a win over the Cougars. K.J. Cochran led all scorers with 23 points, Jack Kushner added 18 and Ryan Rice chipped in 11 for West Chester East. Micah Hill had 14 points and Connor Shanahan 11 for Downingtown East.
Girls’ Basketball
Great Valley 37, Kennett 24 >> The host Patriots got 14 points from Lauren Frederick and cruised past the Demons. Laura Lum chipped in 11 points for Great Valley. Makayla Kelly was the top scorer for Kennett with 10 points.
West Chester Rustin 61, Sun Valley 28 >> The Golden Knights’ raced out to a 37-10 halftime lead and coasted to a Ches-Mont American win over the Vanguards. Laine McGurk poured in 25 points to lead the way for Rustin. Riley Stackhouse and Lola Flynn added nine and eight points, respectively, for the winners.
Oxford 56, Upper Merion 26 >> Caroline Tipton notched 19 points to power the Hornets to a non-league win over the Vikings. Kaia Patterson chipped in 10 points for Oxford.
Shanahan 64, Coatesville 44 >> The Eagles turned a 39-18 halftime lead into a dominating Ches-Mont National victory. Alyssa Brown poured in 32 points to lead all scorers. Dejah Morris (14) and Serenity Burgess (10) led the way for the Raiders.
