Delco Roundup: Academy Park dominates Del Val doubles

Academy Park’s Shaniya Robinson and Faith Larkin captured the Del Val League doubles championship with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Knights teammates Isi Osagie and Sanaa Rogers. That completed a trifecta of Del Val crowns for the Knights, who also won the team and singles titles.

Chichester’s Juliet Schilling and Kaitlyn Carpenter took third place with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 success over fellow Eagles Maddy Marriotti and Rachel Bube.

In the Catholic League semifinals:

Cardinal O’Hara 4, Archbishop Carroll 1 >> No. 3 singles Sophia Bora overcame a first-set loss to defeat Carroll’s Caroline Downs 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-1 for the Lions. Samma Zahran and Jordan Graney both won 6-0, 6-1 at first and second singles, respectively.

No. 1 doubles Theresa Stolarczyk and Sophia Carey stayed undefeated for the season with a 6-1,6-1 victory. O’Hara meets Lansdale Catholic in the final Thursday at 12:45 at the Springfield YMCA.

Girls Soccer

Maddie Smith’s two second-half tallies catapulted Garnet Valley to a 4-0 Central League win over Penncrest. Mia Zebley and Sydney Strulson also tallied for the Jaguars and goalie Jenny Green made four saves.

Radnor 5, Upper Darby 0 >> Edy Mackenzie, Selah Koleth, Lyla Wallis, Zoe Simone-Dobon and Sabina Eraso all scored for the Raptors.

Marple Newtown 3, Harriton 2 >> Sophia Foschi, Lauren Gura and Ameila DiValerio paced the Tigers with a goal apiece. Mariana Costello finished with seven saves in net.

In the Inter-Ac:

Episcopal Academy 3, Agnes Irwin 0 >> Maya Bright collected a goal and an assist to help the Churchwomen silence the Owls. Maya Naimoli (five saves) recorded the shutout.

Boys Soccer

It was Nick Vavala’s game and everyone else was playing in it.

Vavala scored all four goals in Delco Christian’s 4-0 decision over Renaissance Academy. Blake Tanis earned the shutout in goal for the Knights.

In the Inter-Ac:

Penn Charter 2, Episcopal Academy 1 >> Eddie Jones had the lone goal for the Churchmen (8-2-2).

Field Hockey

Alexa McDevitt delivered the game-winning goal with 47 seconds left in regulation as Interboro nipped Academy Park, 2-1, in a Del Val League contest.

Sofie Christopher also scored for the Bucs. Mantanah Sebay had the goal for the Knights.

In the Central League:

Strath Haven 4, Ridley 1 >> Violet Barron showed the way for the Panthers with a pair of goals. Ava Hedlund racked up nine saves in the cage. Hannah DiFilippo tallied for the Green Raiders and goalie Elise Martin notched 13 saves.

In the Inter-Ac:

Episcopal Academy 2, Agnes Irwin 1 >> Bella Notaro and Paige McMeekin each logged a goal for the Churchwomen.
