GIRLS SOCCER

North Penn 4, Souderton 0 >> Maddy Murphy struck for a goal in the first half then picked up an assist as North Penn found the back of the net three times after halftime and claimed its first victory of the season Wednesday.

Lauren Blanch gave the Knights (1-3-0, 1-2-0 SOL Colonial) a 2-0 lead while Syndi Schorn tallied NP’s third heading in a Murphy cross. Kylie Holmes made it 4-0 off a Meaghan Fox assist. In the first half, Reyna Doherty connected with Andi Salmon who found Murphy for the game’s opening goal.

The loss dropped Souderton to 2-3-0 (1-3-0 SOL Colonial).

“Couldn’t get the energy and communication where it needed to be tonight in order to really compete,” Souderton coach Ian Smith said. “Credit to North Penn as they were first to every ball and worked harder than us throughout the match. It just seemed like they wanted it more tonight.”

Perk Valley 2, Methacton 1 (OT) >> Mia Mileo gave Perkiomen Valley the overtime victory in the PAC Liberty matchup, striking at 8:16 in the extra session off assists from Rain Boyd and Dorothy Chesshire.

Boyd gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead at 30:46 in the second half before Methacton’s Katie Rozinsky tied the game just 36 seconds later.

Methacton goalies combined for three saves – Mairi Smith making two and Riley McDonald adding one. PV keeper Jules Sterchak had two saves.

Hatboro-Horsham 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 0 >> Caroline Shegogue and Alli Hewish both scored in the second half as Hatboro-Horsham shut out Plymouth Whitemarsh in the SOL Liberty matchup for a third consecutive win.

Mia Malofiy and Emma Levin collected assists for the Hatters (3-0-1, 3-0-0 division). PW dropped to 1-2-0 (1-2-0).

Wissahickon 2, Quakertown 1 >> Wissahickon got goals from Emma Greenberg and Lanna Werynski as the Trojans (3-1-0, 2-1-0 SOL Liberty) edged host Quakertown for their third straight victory.

Springfield (Montco) 3, Upper Moreland 1 >> Kaliegh Evans had a hat trick to lead Springfield to its second straight win, scoring twice in the second half after the SOL Freedom matchup was tied 1-1 at the break.

Willow Taylor gave Upper Moreland (1-2-1, 1-2-0 division) a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute off a Kyra Favors assist. Evans knotted things in the 37th minute then put the Spartans (2-1-0, 2-1-0) ahead in the 51st. Evans made it 3-1 in the 77th minute. 

William Tennent 4, Cheltenham 0 >> William Tennent improved to 2-2-0 (2-1-0 SOL Freedom) with a shut out win over visiting Cheltenham (0-2-1, 0-2-1 SOL Freedom).

“They came out ready to play from the start and we struggled to find our momentum,” Cheltenham coach Leah Matusow said. “WT did the little things well today. We will learn from this game and look to get better together at practice tomorrow.”

Pope John Paull II 3, Pottsgrove 1 >> Cameron Schuler scored twice while Olivia Rubinich added a goal and assist as Pope John Paul II picked up a PAC Frontier win.

Sarah Boyce and Kira George each had an assist for the Golden Panthers, who led 2-0 at halftime. PJP II goalie Kyanni Esudero made eight saves.

BOYS SOCCER

North Penn 1, Souderton 0 >> North Penn (2-2-1, 1-1-1 SOL Colonial) snapped a three-game winless skid with a victory over visiting Souderton.

Goalkeeper Chris McKenna made five saves for the Indians (1-3-0, 1-3-0 SOL Colonial), who have lost their last three.

Hatboro-Horsham 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1 >> Hatboro-Horsham scored twice in the SOL Liberty contest’s final nine minutes, Isaac Kakiko’s gamewinner coming with just 75 seconds remaining in regulation as the Hatters topped host Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Tony Kuhner tallied HH’s first goal. Anthony Pumilia and Enrico Romano each had an assist for the Hatters (3-1-0, 2-1-0 division) while goalie Noah Schlosser made nine saves. With the loss, the Colonials fell to 1-2-1 (1-2-0).

Wissahickon 3, Quakertown 1 >> Logan Schorn, Jack O’Donnell and Jeevan Jouhal each had a goal as Wissahickon stopped a two-game skid with an SOL Liberty win at Quakertown.

Michael Om had two assists for the Trojans (2-2-0, 1-2-0 division) while Chris Rossetti also collected an assist.

Methacton 2, Perkiomen Valley 0 >> Braden Kavanaugh put Methacton ahead nine minutes into the first half while Brayden Ahlum converted a penalty kick after the break as the Warriors earned a PAC Liberty victory.

Methacton goalie Wyatt Stemler made five saves for the shutout. Perkiomen Valley keeper Justin Angelo had eight saves.

FIELD HOCKEY

Methacton 2, Perkiomen Valley 0 >> Carmela Maro scored a goal in each half for Methacton while goalkeepers Emily Drake and Natalie Drake combined on the shutout in the PAC Liberty win.

Perk Valley goalie Aubrey Kilgore had 16 saves while Cassidy Romano added a defensive save for the Vikings.

Spring-Ford 10, Norristown 0 >> Maddie Friend finished with three goals and two assists as Spring-Ford claimed a PAC Liberty win.

Norristown goalkeeper Azzure Smith made 14 saves. Marina Granieri and Riley Czapor both scored two goals for the Rams.

Wissahickon 6, Quakertown 2 >> Sophia Havrilla scored three goals and also had an assist as Wissahickon stayed undefeated with an SOL Liberty win Tuesday.

Ella Hummel finished with two assists while Riley Ball, Avery Mullin and Kayla Mullin each had a goal for the Trojans (4-0-0, 3-0-0 division) Faith Jampo and Kayla Park both had an assist.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Central Bucks West 3, North Penn 1 >> Alexis Barklage totaled 11 kills, five blocks and four aces as Central Bucks West bounced back from dropping the first set to knock off North Penn 16-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-19 for an SOL Continental Conference win.

Caroline Taylor had 14 digs, two kills, two aces and two aces while Alexa Lee collected 10 digs, four aces and a kill for the Bucks. Erin Ferello finished with 11 assists, eight digs and an ace with Elisa Kremser adding 12 assists and a block.

Methacton 3, Perkiomen Valley 1 >> Mandy Baldwin had 14 kills, Rachel Pettine finished with 30 assists and four aces and Methacton remained undefeated by topping Perkiomen Valley in four sets 25-22, 25-15, 22-25, 25-22.

Kayla Ginther added 10 kills for the Warriors (4-0, 2-0 PAC).

Perk Valley’s Naomi Clauhs had 14 kills, four digs, two blocks and two aces. Olivia Wusinich collected 14 assists, eight digs, two aces and a kill while Quinn Boettinger finished with four blocks and a pair of kills.

Upper Merion 3, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> Caitlyn Daywalt had a career-high eight aces along with 24 assists as Upper Merion swept Upper Perkiomen 25-16, 25-6, 25-6 in the first-ever meeting between the programs.

Sophia Schweikert finished with 12 kills for the Vikings. Despina Kourtidis collected a career-high six kills, Amber Chang had 11 service points (three aces) while Gabby Canete had a career-high five aces.

Pope John Paul II 3, Pottsgrove 0 >> Bella Honick had 15 digs and 18 service points as Pope John Paul II swept Pottsgrove 25-16, 25-9, 25-15.

Madison Monahan handed out 19 assists for the Golden Panthers while Jillian Cobaugh and Elizabeth Beehler both had seven kills.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Methacton 16, Norristown 50 >> Methacton had the top four finishes in winning the PAC dual meet at Heebner Park with Catherine Koran taking first in a time of 22:04.

The Warriors’ Juliana Trigone was second in 22:20. Lila Day paced Norristown, placing fifth at 23:59.

Phoenixville 15, Upper Merion 47 >> Anna Fleischer led Upper Merion, placing fifth in a time of 22:20 as the Vikings were bested by Phoenixville in the PAC dual meet.

The Phantoms’ Kenzie Padilla took first (20:04) with teammate Anna Carruthers second (20:04).

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Methacton 15, Norristown 48 >> Evander Lackman earned first place in a time of 17:05 as Methacton had the top six finishes in winning the PAC dual meet.

Matthew Sandner took second for the Warriors in 17:30. Norristown’s Zif Zeja was seventh in 19:44.

Phoenixville 26, Upper Merion 32 >> Upper Merion’s Charlie Helfand finished first with a time of 17:57 but Phoenixville came out on top of the PAC dual meet.

The Phantoms’ Kyle Padilla took second at 18:01 while UM’s Anthony Tornambe was third in 18:02.

GOLF

North Penn 201, Pennridge 214 >> Hayley Ekert shot a match-low 37 while Danny Steinmetz carded a 39 as North Penn claimed an SOL Colonial win at PineCrest Country Club.

Jeff Seiler paced Pennridge with a 38.

GIRLS TENNIS

Wissahickon 7, Central Bucks West 0 >> Wissahickon’s Yi Yi Huang, Saachi Mehta and Nicolette Agassi all won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 as the Trojans swept the SOL nondivision match.

BOYS WATER POLO

Souderton 15, Pennridge 5 >> Michael Petrillo scored five goals while Will Stanczewski finished with four goals and four assists as Souderton rolled past Pennridge.

Indians goalie Josh Sprague made four saves.

La Salle 9, Germantown Academy 6 >> Germantown Academy’s Jacob Sasson had two goals while Finn Wentz added a goal and three assists for the Patriots in their loss to La Salle.
