Mercury Roundup (Aug. 30): Upper Perkiomen field hockey drops defending PIAA 2A champion

Highlights: Upper Perk knocked off the reigning PIAA Class 2A champions through goals from Jade Traynor, Regan Fiorito and Jess Traynor, who also had an assist, on Tuesday.
Emma Lajeunesse recorded five saves and Mia Schneider had a defensive save for Upper Perk.
Wilson 4, Spring-Ford 3
Highlights: Mia Riccitelli had two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist to lift the Bulldogs over the Rams in non-league play Tuesday.
Nina Scott scored S-F’s opener (assisted by Jackie Fissell) before setting up Julia Corropolese’s score. Maddie Friend rounded out the scoring for Spring-Ford.

Highlights: Dan Damon struck for two second-half goals to lift the Wildcats to a Liberty Division win over the Vikings in their PAC opener. Damon scored off a scrum from a corner kick on the opener, then added an insurance goal when Damon found a ball lost by the PV backline and took a 20-yard right-footed shot that deflected off a defender and squirted into the goal.

Highlights: The Tribe scored twice in the first 26 minutes and saw out the two-goal win on Tuesday.
Sara Edwards pounced on a defensive error for the opener before Sarah Fisher (assisted by Sarah Straup) doubled the tally in the 26th minute. Ava Long made two saves in the shutout, the first of her career.

Highlights: PV won in four sets, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22. Lola Coulter had 19 kils and 13 digs to lead PV while Naomi Clauhs had 18 kills and nine digs. Freshman Talulah Homolya had seven kills and two blocks.
