Mercury Track & Field Roundup (April 20): Pa. top 10 time for PV’s Owens but Boyertown dominates field in dual win

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Boyertown 81, Perkiomen Valley 65: Perk Valley’s Mackenzie Owens dropped a state top-10 15.63 in the 100 hurdles and won the 300 hurdles but Boyertown’s field-event dominance defeated the Vikings.

Cassandra Trujillo won the shot put, discus and javelin for the Bears while Jentry Sullivan took first in the high jump, long jump and tied with teammate Marissa Hillegas to win the triple jump.

Perkiomen Valley 76, Boyertown 70: PV’s Markell Davis was a three-event winner and Ronde Washington won the battle of Pa. shot put standouts with Jayden Miller to lift the Vikings in a PAC dual.

Davis won the 300 hurdles, 400 meters and long jump.

In the shot, PV’s Washington and Boyertown’s Miller each put up state top 10 throws with the PV senior’s 55-3 besting Miller’s 52-9. The duo also went 1-2 in the discus, both hitting personal-best throws.
