North Penn 6, CB South 2 >> The Knights fell behind 2-0, but had a pair of three-run innings starting in the fourth to pull out the SOL Colonial win on Monday. Trevor Lugara got the win, allowing six hits and two runs in 6.2 innings of work. Ryan Sullivan helped provide the offense with two of the team’s five hits on the day.
Abington 9, Plymouth Whitemarsh 3 >> Anthony Ehly struck out 13 in a complete-game effort while Abington broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the fifth then added six more in the sixth to earn the SOL Liberty Division win.
Luke Sydlowski and Jake Kaplan both had two RBIs while Chase Goodson, John Dzielawa and Brian Murtha each scored two runs for the Galloping Ghosts (2-2, 1-2 division). Ehly allowed three runs – all earned – on six hits and did not give up a walk.
Joe Redmond went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Plymouth Whitemarsh (3-3, 0-3), which has lost three straight.
With the bases loaded and one out in the fifth, Kaplan drew a walk while a Hamsher RBI single made it 2-0. Murtha scored on a two-out wild pitch.
After Abington loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth, Kaplan was hit by a pitch and Hamsher walked for a 5-0 lead. Two more runs scored as Cody Frazier reached on an error. A Sydlowski two-RBI double made it 9-0.
Central Bucks West 9, Central Bucks East 0 >> Cole Fehrman struck out 12 in pitching a two-hit shutout while Kevin Bukowski and Aiden Kim both homered in the bottom of the fifth as Central Bucks West claimed an SOL Colonial victory.
Kim also doubled and finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Aidan Quinn was 3-for-4 with a triple, RBI and scored twice for the Bucks (2-1, 2-0 division), who plated two runs in the first and third then five in the fifth. Bukowski was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Jack Mislan had a double for Central Bucks East (1-2, 0-2).
West took a 2-0 in the bottom of the first as Quinn hit an RBI triple then scored on a wild pitch. RBI singles by Maxwell Grill and Julio Ermigiotti made it 4-0 in the third.
Jackson Cunnane doubled to start the bottom of the fifth with Kim following with a two-run homer to center. After a Damian Thomas RBI double, Bukowski put West up nine with his two-run home run to left.
Archbishop Wood 4, Cardinal O’Hara 0 >> Starting pitcher Justin MacCain did not allow a hit and struck out nine over six innings while Braden Kelly and Michael Trommer both hit home runs as Archbishop Wood shut out Cardinal O’Hara for a PCL victory.
Aiden Myers was 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored for the Vikings (5-1, 3-0 league), who have won five straight.
Wood took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on Brian Klumpp’s RBI single then went up 3-0 in the second on Trommer’s solo homer and Myers scored on an error after stealing third. Kelly added a solo home run in the sixth.
MacCain retired the first nine batters he faced – six via strikeout – before O’Hara’s got its first baserunner due to a hit by pitch in the bottom of the fourth. A two-out walk and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for the Lions but MacCain got out of the jam with a line out to right.
La Salle 14, Archbishop Ryan 0 (5 innings) >> Jephson Hadson-Taylor and Brian Baquero both collected three hits as visiting La Salle scored four runs in the first, second and fourth innings in rolling to a five-inning PCL win.
Hadson-Taylor was 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored three runs while Baquero went 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and scored twice as the Explorers (3-3, 1-1 league) ended a three-game skid.
Kevin Kell finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and also pitched the first three innings for the Explorers, allowing two hits and a walk and striking out five. Matt Gannon went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Nathan Kress and Jacob Overton had three and two RBIs, respectively, while Jaylen Ivey had two runs scored.
The Explorers went up 4-0 in the top of the first on a Kell RBI single and Kress’ three-RBI double. La Salle doubled its lead in the second on Baquero and Kell RBI singles and an Overton two-RBI double.
In the fourth, the Explorers made it 12-0 on RBI singles from Hadson-Taylor, Aiden Bretschneider and Colin Kuczborski and an Ivey bases-loaded walk. La Salle tacked on two more in the fifth as Kress scored on a double play and Dominic Martin hit an RBI single.
Girls lacrosse
PW 10, Springfield Twp. 7 >> After falling behind 3-0, it was all Colonials (3-1, 2-0) in a SOL American affair on Monday. Brianna Austin led PW with four goals, while Bri Reynolds also scored two goals. Also scoring for PW were Meghan Wendler, Gigi Tonje, Olivia Reilly and Rhianna Gooneratne. PW’s low defenders stood out with Lonna Buono, Ella Clark, Kaylin Smith and Katie Lukens leading the charge.
Phoenixville 9, Upper Merion 8, OT >> The Vikings (2-3) lost a heartbreaker in PAC action on Monday. Ashlely Evitts led Upper Merion with six goals, while Julianna Callison added two. Jaime Michaud paced the Phantoms with seven goals.
Archbishop Carroll 11, Conestoga 10 >> In a game that featured two of the very best teams in the area, Carroll pulled out a thriller. In a back-and-forth affair Carroll evened the score at 8 on a goal by Machaela Henry. Conestoga struck back with two more and took a 10-8 lead with five minutes left in the game. Soph Chloe Bleckley drew Carroll to within one and then Henry scored two free position goals to put Carroll on top 11-10. In addition to Henry’s hat trick, Carroll was led by Kiley Mottice, Chloe Bleckley, Ava Bleckley and Emma Talago with two goals each.
Spring-Ford 17, Pope John Paul II 3 >> Jill CoBaugh scored all three goals for the Golden Panthers in a losing effort on Monday in PAC action. Kelly Pives also came through with three draw controls for PJP II. Alyssa Mozi paced Spring-Ford with five goals.
Owen J. Roberts 18, Gwynedd Mercy Academy 2 >> OJR stayed undefeated with an 18-2 road victory over GMA on Monday. OJR was led by Gracyn Smith (3G, 4A), Alexa Vogelman (4G, 2A), Gabbi Koury (4G, 2A, 10DCs), Quinn Defibaugh (first career hat trick), and Colby Wasson (2GBs, 3CTs).
Mount St. Joseph 16, Haverford 7 >> The Mount (5-1) won big again in nonleague action on Monday. Kate Donovan and Devin Loome each scored three goals to lead the attack for The Magic. Scoring two goals were Campbell Donovan, Lauren Maher, Amelia Clair and Maggie Reza. Annie Shields was strong with seven saves in net for Mount St. Joseph.
Catholic (Va.) 24, Upper Dublin 13 >> Aditi Foster led Upper Dublin with five goals and three assists as the Cardinals were handed a loss on their Spring Break trip to Virginia Beach.
Paige Dinkel, Julie Zlotnikoff, Tess Reardon and Anna DiMartile all scored two goals for UD (4-3, 2-1 SOL American), who trailed 14-7 at halftime. Dinkel had two assists and two draw controls while DiMartile collected six draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Softball
Pennridge 9, Souderton 3 >> Grace Helbling went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in the sixth and also pitched a complete game as Pennridge used two big innings to hand Souderton its first loss.
Katie Buccafuri and Averi Dockery both had two RBIs while Reagan Bauman scored twice for the Rams (2-2, 1-2 SOL Colonial), who took the lead with a five-run bottom of the third then plated four more in the sixth.
Helbling allowed three runs – two earned – on nine hits, walked three and struck out seven.
Riley York was 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored for Souderton (5-1, 2-1 SOL Colonial). Abby Burns was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Kendell Clemmer went 2-for-3.
Kylie York gave the Indians a 1-0 lead in the top of the third with an RBI single but Pennridge answered in the bottom of the inning. Buccafuri and Dockery both hit two-RBI doubles while Dockery scored as Olivia Crognale reached on an error.
The Rams went up 9-1 in the single on a Bauman RBI single and Helbling’s three-run homer two batters later.
Norristown 12, Phoenixville 4 >> The Eagles (2-4) took the lead lead and picked up the PAC win on Monday. The game was tied at 4-4 in the top of the fifth when Gianna Pino-Ramsuer doubled, scoring the game-deciding runs. Ryan Morse, Pino-Ramsuer and Alana Echevarria each collected two hits to pace the Eagles. Aliana Woods led Phoenixville with two hits.
PW 6, Abington 1 >> The Colonials (1-1) broke the game open with a three-run sixth inning on Monday in SOL Liberty action. Lauren Kane and Molly Moore contributed with RBIs. Moore picked up the win in the circle, allowing three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one. PW finished with 11 hits in all with Kane, Sam Skivo, Julie Price, Grace Carney and Moore all managing multiple hits.
Methacton 7, Pottsgrove 0 >> Megan Lineen tossed a two-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Warriors picked up the PAC win on Monday. Kayla Kaufman doubled and homered to pace Methacton, while Nicole Timko and Caitlin Woolbert also hit home runs for Methacton.
Boys tennis
Boyertown 7, PJP II 0 >> The Golden Panthers didn’t manage a set in taking the loss on Monday. Andres Lugo and VJ Whitaker put up the best fight at No. 3 doubles, taking a 6-1, 6-3 defeat.
Boys volleyball
LC 3, Roman Catholic 0 >> The Crusaders (2-3, 2-0) swept to the win on Sunday, improving to 3-0 in the process. Shane Rodowicz was 100% from the service line, while Liam Collins added four aces and 10 assists. Danny Shelak contributed six kills and two blocks.
