Reporter/Times Herald Area Week 10 Football Previews
North Penn will look to polish off a perfect regular season when the Knights travel to Central Bucks South for a Suburban One League National Conference contest on Friday.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The Knights, who can clinch the conference title with a victory, come into this one at 9-0 overall, 6-0 in the National. The Titans are 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the SOL National.
North Penn is coming off a 28-21 victory over Central Bucks East, which clinched at least a share of the conference crown. South had a tough time with Pennridge, falling 35-10 to the Rams.
It’s a game with District 1-6A Playoff implications as well, with North Penn currently at the No. 2 spot behind only Garnet Valley. South is 14th in 6A.
The Knights came through in the clutch last week against the Pats.
East had rallied from a 21-0 deficit to pull even in the fourth quarter, and faced a 3rd-and-5 from its own 41 with 5:13 remaining.
Jalen Edwards raced down the right seam and quarterback Ryan Zeltt hit him for a 59-yard go-ahead touchdown. Edwards added an interception on the ensuing drive.
Cole Maholtz and the South ground game will try to find bigger openings this week.
North Penn at Central Bucks South

Records: The Rams are 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the SOL National. The Ghosts are 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the SOL National.
Last week: Pennridge blew away CB South 35-10. Abington won 36-35 over Pennsbury.
Players to watch: Brennan Fisher is coming off a 210-yard performance for the Rams in the ground game. Saud Salahuddin is a deep target for the Ghosts.
Prediction: Pennridge 31, Abington 14.
Central Bucks West at Central Bucks East
Site/Time: Saturday, 1 p.m., at East.
Records: The Bucks are 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the SOL National. The Patriots are 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the SOL National.
Last week: West won 27-3 over Neshaminy. East fell 28-21 to North Penn.
Players to watch: Vinny Cherubini does some solid running for the Bucks. Tommy Day had 81 rushing yards and a touchdown last week for the Pats.
Prediction: CB West 21, CB East 14.
Bensalem at Souderton Area
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at Souderton Area.
Records: Big Red is 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the SOL Continental. Bensalem is 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the SOL Continental.
Last week: Souderton defeated Cheltenham 42-27. The Owls lost 42-7 to Quakertown.
Players to watch: Elijah Goods adds a big burst to the Souderton ground game. Allen Myers is part of a tough secondary for the Owls.
Prediction: Souderton Area 31, Bensalem 24.
Wissahickon at Plymouth-Whitemarsh
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at PW.

Records: Wiss is 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the SOL American. The Colonials are 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the SOL American.
Last week: The Trojans won 36-22 over William Tennent. The Colonials clinched at least a share of the American title with a 31-28 win over Upper Moreland.
Players to watch: Quarterback Aiden O’Brien was dangerous with his legs last week for the Colonials. Kyle Lehman has been having a big season on the ground for the Trojans.
Prediction: PW 28, Wiss 14.
Pioneer Athletic Conference Championship Game
Pope John Paul II at Perkiomen Valley
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at Perk Valley.
Records: PJP is 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the PAC Frontier. PV is 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the PAC Liberty.
Last week: The Golden Panthers romped 42-6 over Pottsgrove. PV shut out Methacton 41-0.
Players to watch: Senior quarterback D.J. Clarke stayed hot last week for the Frontier Champs. Jake Beaudoin had an interception in the shutout for the Liberty Champs last week.
Prediction: Pope John Paul II 35, Perk Valley 28.
Upper Perkiomen at Methacton
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at Methacton.
Records: Upper Perk is Methacton is 4-5 overall and 1-4 in the PAC Liberty. Upper Perk is 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the PAC Frontier.
Last week: The Warriors lost 41-0 to Perk Valley. Upper Perk lost 28-13 to Upper Merion.
Players to watch: Quarterback Dan Brandi leads the Warrior offense. Brady Thompson is a solid target for Upper Perk.
Prediction: Methacton 22, Upper Perk 21.
Upper Merion at Boyertown
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at Boyertown.
Records: The Vikings are 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the PAC Frontier. The Bears are 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the PAC Liberty.
Last week: Upper Merion won 28-13 over Upper Perk. Boyertown lost 33-28 to Norristown.
Players to watch: Alzere Thomas caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from Zayd Etheridge last week for the Vikes.
Prediction: Upper Merion 25, Boyertown 20.
Pottstown at Norristown
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at Norristown.
Records: The Eagles are 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the PAC Liberty. Pottstown is 0-9 overall and 0-5 in the Frontier.
Last week: Norristown won 33-28 over Boyertown. Pottstown lost 41-7 to Phoenixville.
Players to watch: Chris Carter threw four touchdown passes for Norristown last week. Dillon Mayes had 100 yards rushing last week for the Trojans.
Prediction: Norristown 30, Pottstown 24.
Archbishop Wood at La Salle
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at Wissahickon.

Records: The Explorers are 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the PCL Red. Wood is 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the PCL Red.
Last week: La Salle routed Father Judge 52-14. The Vikings lost 38-20 to St. Joe’s Prep.
Players to watch: Stevie Davis is a speedy runner for La Salle. Andrew McHugh had an interception and a touchdown for Wood last week.
Prediction: La Salle 21, Wood 13.
Lansdale Catholic at Archbishop Carroll
Site/Time: Saturday, 12 p.m., at Carroll.
Records: LC is 0-9 overall and 0-5 in the PCL Blue. Carroll is 0-9 overall and 0-5 in the PCL Blue.
Last week: The Crusaders lost 12-0 to Conwell Egan. Carroll lost 22-6 to West Catholic.
Players to watch: Tyler Van Osten is a nice target downfield for the Crusaders. Victor Taylor is a reliable back and corner for Carroll.
Prediction: Lansdale Catholic 23, Archbishop Carroll 21.
Germantown Academy at Malvern Prep
Site/Time: Friday, 7 p.m., at Malvern Prep.
Records: GA is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the InterAC. Malvern is 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the InterAC.
Last week: The Patriots beat Springside Chestnut Hill 37-15. Malvern won 24-13 over Haverford School.
Players to watch: Brian Allen continues to run hard for the Pats. Sam Brecker gives Malvern a speedy target downfield.
Prediction: Germantown Academy 20, Malvern Prep 14.
