Reporter/Times Herald Area Week Seven Football Previews

Souderton will try to get back on course for the postseason when it hosts old rival Abington Friday night in a Suburban One League non-conference contest.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Big Red is coming off a tough loss in the 309 Bowl, falling 36-14 to rival Quakertown in a contest that was tight for over three quarters.

“We have four games left,” Souderton coach Ed Gallagher said after last week’s battle. “To me, none of them are gonna be easy, but they’re winnable games. So if we can get something rolling, maybe get a couple kids back, and win at least three of the four, who knows?

“We’re not gonna quit. These kids don’t quit. We have tough kids who work hard and they’re gonna bounce back and hopefully we see a better four quarters (this week).”

Brayden Porter did some decent running for Big Red last week, gaining 65 yards. Elijah Goods continues to be a speedy weapon for Souderton, as a runner and a receiver.

Souderton comes into this one at 3-3 overall, with a 3-1 mark in the SOL Continental. Big Red is currently ranked 15th in the 16-team field in District 1-6A.
