ROUNDUP: Hurricane Ida causes high school schedule changes

Bonner-Prendergast won’t get to play down the shore this weekend. Neither will Episcopal Academy. Both teams were scheduled to play at Wildwood Catholic but those plans have been altered.

Bonner-Prendergast will now take on Roman Catholic at home on Friday. Kickoff is at noon. That game was originally scheduled for Friday night in Wildwood.

Episcopal Academy’s season opener against West Catholic will now be at EA Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.). That game also was originally scheduled to be played at Wildwood Catholic.

Strath Haven’s season-opening field hockey contest against Upper Dublin on Friday has been postponed due to damage at Upper Dublin cause by Hurricane Ida.

Golf

Shawn Mazzalupi carded a 3-under-par 32 at Springfield Country Club, giving Radnor the strength it needed at the top to gut out a 202-206 victory over Penncrest Thursday.

Chase Spephano was the only other Radnor golfer under 44 with a 36.

Penncrest used its depth to keep it close. Eli Shah carded a 36. Ryan Cahill checked in with a 38, and Yusuf Ahmed added a 42.

In the Catholic League:

Archbishop Wood 250, Cardinal O’Hara 262 >> Chaela Barnett started with six straight pars to card a 37, and her sister Lola Barnett added a 38 to lead Wood to the victory at Five Ponds Golf Club.

Anthony Carson paced O’Hara (3-5) with a 39. Ryan Garvey added a 40, Brendan Till a 42.

Girls Tennis

Kamora Kelton battled out a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 win at second singles over West Chester Henderson’s Ella Tunnell, but Episcopal Academy found itself on the wrong side of a 4-3 nonleague decision.

Carter Yearley and Maggie Lo won at first doubles, and Maggie Dugery and Maddy Mitchell swept to a win at fourth doubles.

Kylie Kochis – in a 7-5, 8-6 battle with Ashley Kennedy at first singles – and Sophia Ming earned singles points for Henderson.

Volleyball

Led by 19 digs from Ella Zwilling, Agnes Irwin swept Shipley, 3-0, in a nonleague match.

Jenna Zwilling tucked away seven kills. Heidi Reller served up six aces for the Owls, who prevailed by game scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-15.
