Mercury Roundup (May 19): Spring-Ford tops OJR to finish off unbeaten PAC season
SOFTBALL
Spring-Ford 13, Owen J. Roberts 3
HIGHLIGHTS: The Rams finished off an unbeaten PAC championship campaign with Wednesday’s Liberty win over OJR. Spring-Ford’s senior class finished its PAC careers with an unbeaten 48-0 mark.
Bri Peck drove in seven runs during her 3-for-5, two-homer day. Noelle Reid and Lexi Wescott (double) added another three hits each, while Morgan Lester went 2-for-3 with a homer, three runs scored and three RBI.
Jules Scogna went the distance on the mound for the Rams, striking out eight.
Natalie Alldred tallied a pair of hits, including a double, for OJR.
North Penn 11, Perkiomen Valley 1
HIGHLIGHTS: The Vikings were held to just three hits in Wednesday’s non-conference loss.
Serena Crovetti, Anna Hallisey and Chloe Rupe had PV’s hits, while the big bat of Bri Wilmot (3-for-3, 2 HR, 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI) powered the Knights at the plate.
Perkiomen Valley 4, Gwynedd Mercy 0
HIGHLIGHTS: Josie Strechay was brilliant on the rubber Tuesday, throwing a no-hitter to lead the Vikings past Gwynedd Mercy Academy in non-league play.
Strechay struck out nine in the course of her complete-game stint, during which she yielded no runs, hits or walks. Sam Corey provided a 3-for-4 bat and two RBI for PV.
BASEBALL
Owen J. Roberts 4, Oley Valley 0
HIGHLIGHTS: Three Wildcats pooled their pitching talents to four-hit the Lynx in Wednesday’s non-league game.
Tristan Dietrich and Dean Mihos scattered the hits while Dietrich had five strikeouts. Alex Lobello had 1-1/3 innings of no-hit relief in-between.
Methacton 17, Cheltenham 2
HIGHLIGHTS: Jude Wozniak swung one of the hotter bats for the Warriors as they rolled over the Panthers in non-league action Wednesday.
Wozniak went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in, one of six Methacton players with multiple RBI. Jake Chapman also went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs while Mike and Matthew Christian, Jake Maggio and Logan Kelly each had two RBI.
