Mercury Softball Roundup (April 30): Untouchable Scogna perfect in Spring-Ford’s three-inning win

Spring-Ford 15, Upper Merion 0 >> The Rams wasted no time bringing the “mercy rule” into effect Friday, scoring all their runs in their first at-bat to make quick work of their PAC divisional crossover game with the Vikings.

Jules Scogna did her part on the mound, throwing a perfect game. Scogna had nine strikeouts for three innings; she was also one of four Spring-Ford players to drive in three runs, going 2-for-2.

Five Rams had two or more hits on the day. Lilly Undercoffler (2-for-2) had one of the team’s more potent bats, collecting a home run and double; Bri Peck chipped in with a 3-for-3 bat, and Noelle Reid hit a pair of doubles.

Owen J. Roberts 15, Pope John Paul II 5 >> Allie Daubert’s big day at the plate powered the Wildcats past the Golden Panthers in Friday’s PAC crossover action.

Daubert went 3-for-4 with a double, homer and three RBI and scored four runs as well. Sam Walsh allowed four hits in five innings and gave up five runs, none of them earned. She also went 3-for-4 with a double.

Emma DiBattista and Jordan Sylvia (double) also had two-hit days, while Natalie Alldred doubled.

Norristown 4, Pottstown 3 >> Ryan Morse pitched a 10-strikeout compete game, and Isabella Whitley hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh for the go-ahead run that lifted the Eagles over the Trojans in Friday’s divisional crossover game.

Pottstown scored in the fifth and sixth innings for a 3-1 lead Norristown erased with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.
