Pottstown’s Figueroa earns silver at Pa. Girls State Wrestling Championships
Pottstown represented well at the 2021 MyHouse Pa. Girls State Wrestling Championships Sunday at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim.
Julianna Figueroa was runner-up at 132 pounds, reaching the final by way of a first-round bye due to her No. 2 seed and a 11-4 decision of Gettysburg’s Katelyn Keller in the semis.
Delaware Valley’s Lily Sherer took with title with a pin in 1:24, handing Figueroa her third straight silver placement at the girls’ wrestling state tournament.
Pottstown’s Zoe Earle went 2-2 at 122 pounds. Earle won her opener 4-2 over Laurel’s Paige Harding, was pinned in the second round but rebounded with a 0:55 pin in consolations before going out a round later.
Mia Bumbarger went 1-2 at 147, her win a 2-0 decision of Greenville’s Rieane Zajac in the first round. She was dropped into consolations by eventual champion Andrea Wilmoth of DuBois, who pinned her way to the title. Xiyah Robinson also went 1-2 for Pottstown in the 222 bracket.
